Guest smartmove08 Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 I have been a happy'ish Windows Mobile user for a number of years now and currently using the HTC Touch Diamond. However, I really like the look of the new Nexus One and in the next week I am out of contract with Orange so can be ready to pick up a good deal when it finally arrives on the networks here. One thing that I use (and rely on) alot is Outlook and the ability for my contacts and calendar to sync regularly with my phone. Obviously this is going to be a complication if I move to Android as there is no native sync support for Outlook and Android? (correct me if I'm wrong). I have seen some solutions where you sync Outlook to Gmail and then this syncs with the phone but there seems to be problems for some people doing this. Is there a sure fire way that I can reliably sync my desktop Outlook calendar and contacts with a Nexus One? Thanks.
Guest Graham B Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 I'm also been wondering about what would replace ActiveSync. I've been using ActiveSync for years, first with my HP Journada 548 and lately with my HTC Touch Dual. I sync my Outlook Contacts, Calendar, Inbox, Sent Items, Tasks and Notes. I need to know what I need to do to sync everything as my Nexus One currently being shipped, should turn up on Tuesday, I hope! Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks

Yes, simple enough, you can sync google calendar to your outlook calendar and it'll then update the phone over the airwaves. There is also a simple way to send your winmo contacts to the cloud so they then go to your android phone as soon as you tell it your googlemail address. I went from a touch HD to hero and had no problems and I'm no techie geek!

I already dual booted my Touch Pro (flashed a dual boot rom, easier that way ;)) the devs and chefs over at xandroid and xda are doing an awesome job. So far the only things missing is gps, camera and bluetooth to get it, just search the xda forums (Diamond section) for a either a rom with dual boot or just the xandroid built for diamond I can tell u from my experience, that i had to sync my contacts & calendar with the google account (activesync does that) through WinMo, then i booted in Android and synced everything back good luck if u wanna do that
