Guest LuKa-X Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 Hello everyone I'm after some advice please. I have a Omnia I900 from Vodafone running official firmware ACHH3, and recently its been going weird like deleting my ringtones and not making any sound when I get a text or phone call. I think its time to fix it all, I like the look of WM 6.5 but is it really worth going from WM 6.1 to WM 6.5 because I'm just a bit worried about flashing my phone and not be able to get it working again if something goes wrong. I have flashed devices before (N95, PSP, Mobo BIOS) but flashing a Omina looks like a minefield for problems to happen. So here are my questions: *Is it worth upgrading to a WM 6.5 ROM? *I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit what is the safest way to flash my Omina? *What is the best WM 6.5 ROM to flash? *Can I backup my current installed ROM? *Whats the best backup app to move everything from 6.1 to 6.5? *Is there any problems I need to look out for with flashing from 6.1 to 6.5? *Can I return to my previous ROM if I don't like WM 6.5? I hope someone can help clear these doubts up for me, I'm excited about trying new ROMS and a new version of WM. Many thanks in advance guys :)

Yes 2. Windows XP or running from a virtual machine (read the rom section) 3. Check the i910 section for good roms. You will find out that every user prefers a different rom so you'll have to take a look yourself and decide. 4. Yes but it won't help you because the registry is different. You can only use it to save your sms, mms, mail and some other files. 5. You can use sktools to backup the data that can be transfered to the new OS 6. Just don't flash on windows 7 and I don't recommend backing up any programs because it seldom works and it often makes the phone unstable 7. Yes Edited January 9, 2010 by bpivk

Many thanks in advance guys :) Hi Luka, Welcome aboard the upgradijng biz- once you pop, you can't stop B) 1. To flash omnia from Win7 - download the i900_executor and USDL_GRANDPRIX_VISTA and VISTA RUU drivers (there is a seperate guide on this forum for this). After the first time, you'll see it's not hard ;) couple of clicks. 2. I currently use OCK Titanium 23518 and it's really good! You can try the M2D version if you'd like too! 3. Probably you can, but I never tried.. 4. Rather than backup - get all the cabs and use SASHIMI or XDA_UC. I don't recommend backup as it might interfere with specific customization between different operating system builds. 5. Nothing special from what I remember - you'll enjoy the device quite a bit afterwards... 6. If you have the previous rom - yep - just flash it back ;) --summoner
