Is there anyone out there that may be able to clarify something for many of us new to this community...

I have been using Nick's 28014 flotanium m2d for the past few weeks and I do say that it is quite stable and impressively fast (compared to deewhatara's ROM, true blue, black beauty, and i forgot the others i have tried).

The question is I am a bit confused as to the ROM build releases. There is a new 28502 build which I understand is an upgrade from 28014.

However, the chefs have been releasing updates to ROMS with 'lower' build numbers such as 23518 and many others and these are still being updated on.

Are these 2 NEW separate builds being updated? Or are the lower build numbers just previous builds that chefs prefer to use and try to fix the bugs and issues that come with those builds?

I hope I didn't confuse anyone ;)

If I did then i'll try an analogy hahah..

Let's just say Build 28014 is Windows Vista and Build 23515 is Windows XP.

So when the chefs release their NEW ROMs using Build 28502, is it safe to say this new ROM is Windows 7?

And following the same principle, when chefs release NEW ROMs like build 23620, it's as if it's just a Service Pack or a Patch Bug Fix for that particular 'OLD' build? Like installing Servick Pack 3 on Windows XP?

Or do I just have no idea what I am on about? ahahah B) ;) :)

*so i guess basically what is the difference between 28502 and 23620 which have both been recently released....*

Some Information for those still confused about build versions:

*

Here's more detail (quote from xda):

212xx = AKU1, all builds leading up to and including WM 6.5

213xx = MOT motorola

214xx = ???

215xx = SAM samsung

216xx = HTC htc

217xx = COM1, continuing dev of 6.5.0.1 - 6.5.0.40

218xx = COM2, continuing dev of 6.5.0.50

219xx = MD, feature test branch, pretty much dead now. (unstable features are added here, this tree is based on COM1, so older base OS code, but the UI/UX code is newer)

22xxx = SEMC sony ericsson

*230xx = COM3, continuing development

*234xx = COM4, appears to be abandoned.

*235xx = COM5, more GUI changes here.

*236xx = LG Electronics Branch

*24xxx = Possible HTC branch

*280xx, 282xx = WMD. This is a continuation of com3 from 23090. Most of the changes appear to be with IE

- Beside, 23519 has threaded email feature which 24001 doesnt.

- And 23519 build date is newer than 24001

maybe if someone can elaborate a bit more in this thread? it does sound like the build versions are number confusingly. the higher the number gets doesnt necessarily mean its better/newer =\
