Guest acabbie Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003  Hi there, i am having a problem sending MMs's. I've tried to send messages numerous times but have suceeded only twice, the rest of the time the messages get moved to the draft folder. I've been in touch with Orange and they keep taking me down the route of checking the username and password in the settings which i know are right, the last time i spoke to them they told me they were handing it over to another department to investigate but i still haven't heard anything from them and it's been nearly a week ! Can anyone help me ? One more thing, when i go to settings and try and select "date and time" i get the error message "Error, the settings could not be opened ", can anyone help me with this prob too ? Many thanks. Be nice to your mice
Guest SirGaz Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Sounds like the phone itself may be at fault. Have you tried a hard reset? Usually clears a few problems (remember to backup everything first so you don't lose contacts, emails etc.
Guest DancingMatt Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Just a thought, are you trying to MMS cross-network? I read that you might be able to with O2 now or soon, but AFAIK you can't.
Guest acabbie Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I have tried to mms across network and also to email addresses, i've received it on my own email address and as far as i'm aware if you mms to someone on another network, they receive an email telling them where to view the image etc. I've not done a hard reset as i'm not too sure how to back up everything....
Guest samdb74 Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 i can mms to o2 and Orange ps try sending an mms to yourself if that works it must be cross network probs as mentioned above
Guest acabbie Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 The two mms's i've sent have both been to me, one to my mobile and one to my email address. I've tried numerous times to send to other email addresses and phones on orange and other networks all to no avail. I guess i'l try tech support again tomorrow.
Guest Bazz Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 Make sure you have no spaces or brackets in your number. It should be of the form: +447XXXXXXXXX if you're in the UK.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 All my contacts have spaces and brackets and my SPV has no problem identiying contacts. As per the problem i've had MMS fail before in a similar way, it seems to "sort itself out" though after a few days. Having said that none of my mats on O or O2 have MMS enabled phones, so i have no reason to sentd them all that often...
Guest vadonald Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 It took me 4 attempts before my first (and so far only) MMS was sent. :? Each time it failed, the message was saved in the Drafts folder, when I came to try for the fourth time, my message had somehow disappeared. It was there in the list, and I could edit it, page 1/0 - some little bug no doubt. In the end I deleted it and started again. Must say that I thought it was a bit slow at sending the message (when it finally worked), so much for GPRS. ;) I noticed one other small bug, the screen offering To: Cc: etc, you can select from your contact list - and sensibly it only lists those contacts with mobile numbers or an email address. Unfortunately, if you select one with an email address, it doesn't add anything to the list, whereas one with a mobile number does get added. Cheers, Vince
