Guest firebattt Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 I called Telus (Canada) and asked about using an unlocked phone from WIND Mobile on their network. They said it would work but that unlocked phones from other carriers give problems such as dropping calls (especially if outside, in this case, WIND Mobile's coverage map), less reception, voice mail problems etc. Is this true or is it just the usual scare tactics. Thanks for the info!!!!!
Guest tsutton Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 The only thing that I heard similar stories was jailbroken iPhones where it would cause some issue to their network. However for unlocking it, no, it won't. They're trying to get you to stay on their network.
Guest Webreaper Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 To give you a little more info and prove that they're lying to you, Vodafone in the UK sell all Android and WinMo phones unlocked from day one of the contract. So if there really were problems with call-dropping etc, you'd be hearing about it!
Guest Shuflie Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 It has nothing to do with whether a phone is unlocked or not, what may be more important is whether the radio stack in the phone has been tuned to a particular carrier's network or not.
