Guest cezent Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 I just read from the Hero section that there have been news of Hero getting 2.1 upgrade in February. That sounds like HTC is getting its claws out on Android 2.1 and rolling out its plan for 2010. Has anyone heard any news about HTC Bravo recently? My impression was Bravo is going directly rivalling Nexus One in terms of hardware, plus the benefit of Sense UI. The last news I heard about Bravo was April release but possibly earlier than that. But I dont think there has been any further update/news in terms of how the hardware is going to compare with Nexus One side by side. Perhaps Nexus One is been focused so much everyone has forgotten about the Bravo (including myself who have been having so much fun playing with N1 :) ). Has anyone heard anything else?

Well I don't think the Bravo is an upgrade hardware wise (think it has like 256mb less RAM but correct me if Im wrong :)) but going by earlier HTC models it could still be a good match-up against the N1. Im not really that fussed about senseUI but HTC does other things better then vanilla android. (Like exchange sync etc.) Ah well in a few months we will know if it's better but Im guessing they will be about the same :)

THe Bravo beats the Nexus on a few points if the specs are correct Nexus has 65K colours Bravo has 16 Million colours Nexus has BT 2.0 Bravo has BT 2.1 Nexus has GPRS 10 Bravo has GPRS 12 I'm due an upgrade in April....... :)

It seems like Bravo is of little different from N1 but marginally better in almost every aspect , except for smaller RAM, but that could change at time of release..One of the things I would be interested to find out will be if the Bravo screen going to have that "fingerprint proof" coating like the HERO does. A problems I have with Nexus One is that the screen gets dirty really easily, which makes me rather appreciate that screen coating on the good old Hero. :) Oh, and the FM Radio too..
Guest cezent Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 Apparently 3 Sweden has put down a March release for HTC bravo on their official facebook page...I think I ve found my next phone after Nexus One :)

I'm pretty sure the Nexus has 16M color display and BT 2.1. I guess that pdadb hasn't been updated for quite a while :)

I guess that pdadb hasn't been updated for quite a while :) Well according to the speccs on google.com/phone it has BT 2.1 and well, Id be surprised if it only has 65K colors on a 3.7 inch AMOLED :) The 65K colors was a limit in the old Android versions (up till 1.6 I think) :)

After using my N1 i do prefer the sense keyboard and alot of the HTC widgets are nicer than the stock android ones.
Guest cezent Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 have also just saw the mentioning of HTC Supersonic from Engadget. It seems to be another HTC snapdragon phone that has performance capability matches that of Nexus One...and it seems to have the screen the size of HD2..now that is seriously good gadget for the Android world...I wonder if its an entirely different phone, or its just HTC Bravo getting some last minute upgrades before general release...either way, cant wait! :)

Guest Mantisen Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 4.2" would be a bit too big for me... 3.7" on the N1 is PERFECT size screen for me :) Well 4.2" wouldn't be horrible imo, but Im curious to how much more power 4.2" would drain compared to 3.7" and it would be kinda hard to get it into your pocket :)
Guest cezent Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 though probably 4.2 is a bit too big for pocket, it never fail to amaze me whenever I see a HD2, despite having a Nexus One, there is something about a full-of-screen device that makes me wanna get one ...I would put my money in it if its out soon enough :)
Guest ermacwins Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 can someone confirm the ram for bravo?
Guest cezent Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 seems like pictures of Bravo have been spotted in the wild! love the look of that optical trackball, and the all so familiar Sense UI!! My Nexus One will be on ebay as soon as this beast is out! :)
Guest huey-t Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 (edited) can someone confirm the ram for bravo? Don't think anyone can truly confirm just yet - but if it's only got 256MB RAM, I'm stickin' with my Nexus. I like the curvier look of the Nexus more than the blocky look of the Bravo. Optical mouse doesn't really push my buttons because I rarely even use the trackball on my N1/Hero for navigation purposes. EDIT: Don't get me wrong though, I would just love senseUI on my N1. Missing it from my Hero :) Edited January 24, 2010 by huey-t
Guest metatron Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 If the hardware is going to be that similar, I am hoping you may be able to flash the nexus with a bravo image and get sense back ... but will have to wait and see....
Guest Jonnyw2k Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 Just a quick question What is an optical trackball/joystick
Guest metatron Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 Just a quick question What is an optical trackball/joystick You run your finger over an optical sensor, so no rolling ball.
Guest cezent Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 There are some news that Bravo will be announced at the World Mobile Congress and due to released in UK end of March, also reports that t-mobile UK has got the carrier contract. A bit strange given that there is no sight of network carrier supported general release in UK for the Nexus One quite yet, unless Nexus One goes on general sales in the next couple of weeks, Bravo will arrive in UK about the same time as Nexus One if not earlier. Not sure why HTC wants to have two of their top end handsets go head to head. Anyway, it looks like Bravo is just simply another version of Nexus One but with slight improvements of some detail hardware configuration (perhaps the looks), and with Sense UI added on top. However, I somehow feel Bravo is like a "fake version" of the Nexus One with (extremely) likely long delay of future android version update, and I m definitely less excited about the Bravo now than 1 month ago. I mean, however a brilliant job HTC did with Hero's Sense UI, their software support is appalling (Hero is still running 1.5 and the initial upgrade plan to 1.6 was skipped to 2.0, now to 2.1..and still no sign of it coming!). Most of the key features in SenseUI has been incorporated in Android 2.1. Unless HTC brings out some breathtakingly futuristic function that's absolutely superior to everything else on the market, I find it more and more difficult to convince myself to change from Nexus One to Bravo, particularly so given the ever growing user/developer base on the Nexus. Having said all these, still tempted to see what HTC can pack in this monster :)
Guest cezent Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 There s also this rumour of HTC Supersonic, seem to be an even more capable device than both Nexus One and Bravo, 4.3' screen with 1GB RAM, and rumour of it launch with Android 3.0...forget about the android 3.0, the hardware specs themselves are rather impressive if true, now that's an interesting device to be watch out for! :)
