good News for Win7 Users

I don't understand all the trouble. I have a laptop and a stationary computer, both running Win7,

and the only thing I had to do to get it to work was to use the Vista driver. there's heaps of

info on it all over the place.

Yes, but quite rightly, Joe Public wants to buy a phone, install the software and use it, not google for fixes to install drivers.

It's a PC application that talks to the component already on the phone, so no.

Oh I see so its just for the PC, i dont use HTC sync thats why I made the mistake, there is no need to correct other forum members in such an arrogant way though. Could have put it differently...

+1. That was nothing.

Has anyone else noticed the download link appears to have disappeared? Or is it just me?

Yeah I have matey and its why I do not post on many forums. Look how long I have been a member, I have only started to post recently. I only said that because the post above to another member had a similar tone. Should have ignored it really :)

Back on topic, is HTC sync a handy tool? I just use nandroid backups, does HTC sync do a good job of backing up SMS and contacts?

Depends really, I found it wasnt quite what I wanted, particularly as I use an exchange server. I bought a copy of mybackup pro off the market and find that it works they way I want it to (backing up on a schedule, no need to synch with a pc) as well as backing things up to their secure storage site.

Its best not to take things too personally, people get really tetchy on here sometimes, just dont start the iPhone/Android/WinMobile discussion I beg you :)

No im not narrow minded enough to start that sort of conversation :)

I purchased my Backup Pro, It is ok but a few things that spoilt it for me were:

Contacts sync gets a bit confused with google.

Switching between versions of Android affects the restoring (sort of expected).

When restoring all apps it doesnt add them to the list in Market> My Downloads.

I only really back up data that isnt sourced elsewhere, ie my texts, mms and a few other bits like my dictionary. I dont back up the apps as they can be downloaded again, usually updated versions, and I just leave my contacts in Google mail, and my exchange account. Since they are all online they get loaded back down to the phone anyway.

Once you sign back into your google account on the phone, the purchased apps are there to download again.
