Guest byakkotai Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 Hi, can somebody help me decide between using K-9 and Google Mail app? I know GMail is built in and as far as I can see in the kitchen there is no way to remove it (I'm rubbish at command prompt and prefer to stay simple). K-9 seems much better but I have no idea which will work best. Thanks

This would probably be best if you do not want to use command prompts :)
Guest Nesousx Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 I did try K9 recently, and didn't like it. IIRC, no easy and fast "Archive button", since I Archive every mail that I've read and is not "spam"... I just dropped that app. Moreover I found that emails were sometimes, badly displayed. But, try it!!
Guest byakkotai Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 Thanks, just downloaded. Its not all it's cracked up to be so far. With MoDaCo custom custom ROM I removed the HTC Mail app as that is even worse. Hopefully GMail app in 2.1 will be better but so far Gmail app is the best IMO
Guest redcow Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 I'm using K9 and will never go back! works great for me and improves with every release :)

Can't find the apk-file to delete. I do also prefer the K-9 it feels faster and works great. But I get double notifications with both HTC Mail and K-9 and would love to fix that issue. :)

With K9 as soon I pressed SEND button, it's on Inbox after just couple minutes. Just to check google server, I then send mail on PC through googlemail. Again it was instant so no fault on server side. Could be this is only me having problem but you can test and see. If as me, then it boils down to whether you prefer speed of delivery or not. If using K-9 is anything like using IMAP on outloook express was, deleting the message in the inbox actually archives it Mine goes to Trash as that's how I set up in PC. On K9 if i confirm "Empty Trash" then it's gone from PC mail client (server) too. Edited January 16, 2010 by starfarer
