My gf phoned me yesterday mornin cos she was annoyed that id switched my phone off and didn't reply to her txts... except my phone was on! I think, but im not sure that there was no '1' in the status bar - what does the 1 mean?

I switched my phone on/off and then all my txts came through at once

Has anyone else had this problem? its pretty annoying as it meant that no one could contact since friday ;)

thinks it just what "line" you are using. An indication for those who have two lines on one phone.

It means your phone is currently set to 'Line 1'.

How do you switch between Line1 & 2 during a call??

How do you know your Line2 number and can it be used normally for incoming calls?

thx.

Line 2 is like another phone contract, but using the same simcard.

check your bill, you will see a separate charge for the monthly contract on line 2.. (it's not on by default).

And you cannot have PAYG on line2 ;)

I don't think you can switch during a call, you might be able o put one on hold, go to the homescreen and then switch over.

I used to have 2 lines on a Nokia, you just had to hold down the hash key for 3 secs to switch between the lines.

I've seen this question come up many times before, did everyone not get the "quick guide" that came with the SPV?

The guide is so s*** - so is the manual - than noone ever bothered looking in it I guess..

Me having not found any answers to my very few questions decided that it is a waste of ink&paper and go search 'SPV unlock SIM' on the web... Me end up being a MoDaCo addict. Me need medicine & councelling. Damn this phone!! (Or is that already the case?!) ;)

Not receiving txt's sound's like the import from SIM problem (which i suffered form AGAIN this weekend, i'll moan about the entire sotry if you really want me to....).

My advice: Do an import from SIM, if your missing texts mysteriously appear phone up orange and report he problem, then get them to send you a SIM update, this has solved the problem when i have had txting difficulties.

To switch Lines> Programs>Settings>Telephony> Call Options> Current Outgoing Line..toggle left/right to switch Lines and Done to store.

Data can only be sent from Line 1, so to find out which is line 1, just send yourself a text message from your mobile, and you will see the number sent from.

SMS and data messages will always be sent from Line 1, even if you have Line 2 selected.

Both Lines will receive Incoming calls, regardless of which Line you have selected for Outgoing calls.

I meant _during_ a call. For example, when you are talking on Line 1 and someone else calls you - you get the beeps alerting of incoming call on Line2 - how do I put Line1 on hold and speak to Line2 and then switch back to Line 1?? Otherwise it gives me a missed call message.

Hello Guys,

Havent you noticed that we dont have a line 2 but still have the number 1 and in the manual it has seperate symbols for when you dont have a line 2.

It must have been a software issue whilst developing the SPV and we could have the correct symbols that are used for non-line 2 people with a software fix.

Hee Hee you mean its all a lie! Oh well, couldnt someone change the number one into a different symbol whilst they skin a new home screen?

Depending on software version you have on the phone, you can switch between lines by holding down the hash key - maybe it was accidentally done in your pocket and this is what stopped the texts coming through?

I've had a number of phones with 2 lines and I've got to say.. this one makes it the most difficult to change over.

As people have said before having line 2 set up means you have 2 contracts so to speak on the same sim card. This means that you are able to make out going calls on 2 different orange tarrifs which have 2 different numbers and can change from one to the other through the menus.

It doesn't matter what line you have selected when you receive a phone call as no matter which of your numbers the person rings, it will still go through and there will be an indicator telling you which number they are ringing on the display.

Text messages are the same, you can send messages no matter what line you are on but they will only be sent through line 1, using it's charges etc.. the same applies for data.

People can send you text messages on either line and they will always go through no matter what line you are on. So if you are on line 1 and get a message on line 2, you will receive it regardless.

This isn't like having 2 sim cards which you have to switch over to make and receive calls, both work together at the same time and the only time you need to change over lines is when you want to make a call from a specific line (eg.. to ring using a work and private line) or to check the voicemail on a specific line.

That's what supposed to happen anyway.. i'm not saying it's working for you.. but it's fine on my end and i've never had a single problem in over 4 years.

Unless you specifically set up a line 2 and asked for a 2nd tarrif etc, i doubt they have added you a second line.

This might just be a bug of some sort which they should sort out, I know the 6210's used to have a simlar problem where refurbed phones would display a line 1 indicator even though you only had one line. These indicators should only be there of you have 2 lines.

Hope this has cleared up the 2 line thing for some people, it is very confusing when explained and unless you use it, it can be hard to grasp.

virdirs - Have you tried looeee's mega fast Line Switcher here. It makes switching lines a breeze.

This should be redundant in the near future though, as firmware 1.6 is reported to implement the tried and tested # key holding. :)
