Ad-Hoc

I've read many online guides and it all points to one thing , editing two files.

 /system/etc/wifi/tiwlan.ini 


WiFiAdhoc = 1

dot11DesiredSSID = InsertyourSSIDhere

dot11DesiredBSSType = 0


/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf 


network={

	ssid="InsertyourSSIDhere"

	scan_ssid=0

	mode=1

	key_mgmt=NONE

}

and i just can't seem to make it work ! My Hero doesn't see the Ad-Hoc network.

I know some of you will say why do i need it ? I've wired connection and i can't get a cheap router :)

any advice ?

Can't you use a piece of software on windows that creates a virtual 'access point' that the Hero does see? I'm sure I've seen it mentioned here or on xda-dev...

Sorry for double post. Edit playing up for me again :)

See http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero...oc-application/ and have a read of that. Mentions a couple of apps that might help (think you need Windows 7 though, but it's worth it)

Windows 7 is not an option for me :) i've seen most of these posts, and i want the editing two files way to work :)
