SMS and email notification

Hi,

I've noticed that sometimes when the phone is in sleep/standby mode I don't receive an audio notification for new gmail emails, is this a bug? Could be if there is already a unread received email?

Also, is their a way or an app that gives a constant audio notification of unread received SMS's? Several times I have had a sms and not known.

I use Handcent SMS, that has plenty of options, one is to remind you of SMS's, ie re-notify every 5 minutes or so.

I use missed call app for this, it can notify you repeatedly about missed calls, sms messages, low battery etc. Version 0.8.8 is compatible with android 1.5, newer ones are not.
