Guest Pidder Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I encountered a serious problem on my spv: In the past three days about 8 friends of mine contacted me and asked if i haven't received their short messages (because i didn't answer). And now it's clear: i only get about every second sm, that has been sent to me. The other half disappears somewhere and was never displayed on my phone. Everybody with the same problem? Can this have something to do with the phone itself or is the network to blame for sure?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I know that a few of my non SPV friends have this problem and apparently Orange do know about it as my friends have complained to them. So it could be the network ;)
Guest madu Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Try Inbox > Menu > Options > Import messages from SIM Seemed to work for me in the first few weeks - then all went fine, no more probs..
Guest Lojt Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Try to do a sim card import from the options menu in the inbox. There is a bug that causes sms's to go to the sim card directly sometimes instead of the phone...
Guest Will Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Just for fun, put your sim card into another phone, and see how many messages appear? Some seem to not be read off the simcard by the spv... even with sim import.. Will
Guest Pidder Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Thanx a lot for this one! I had 13(!) new Short Messages by importing them
Guest madu Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I had 13(!) new Short Messages by importing them  Wow!! You must be pleased in an angry way ;) Is that a standard Orange SIM then?? I thought they all had 10xSMS capacity?
Guest Pidder Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I'm pleased by knowing now how to prevent this in future ;) . But i'm angry because it's to late now to answer all this short messages :x . And: Yes it's a standard orange sim. But a friend of mine told me recently that they came up with new sim-cards a few weeks ago (perhaps i've already one of those in my baby 8) ).
Guest Pidder Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 One more question: How can i delete the messages on the simcard? (If i import 'em they are not deleted; so if i try to import 'em again they are all downloaded once again)
Guest Bazz Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 The only way to delete them at the mo seems to be to stick your card into another phone :-(
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I've had numerous arguements with OCS over this. As soon as their tech team gets a solution they will contact me on my Orange line... Hmm... They've got a week.
Guest smartytron Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 i use my SPV in the states on t-mobile, and sometime msgs arrive in a second and sometimes all at once hours later... BUT i also have this same issue when the sim is in a t68 (its original phone) OR in a pocketpc (O2 xda but t-mobile brand)... so, for me at least, i think its the network, not the hardware. good luck m
Guest Hax Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 I've had numerous arguements with OCS over this. As soon as their tech team gets a solution they will contact me on my Orange line... Hmm... They've got a week. What's the betting that they send you an SMS that arrives onto your SIM card and you don't notice it ;) Adam
