Guest jlgmax Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 Ive been using the HTC keyboard application for a while but Im getting annoyed with it freezing all the time. Ive tried TouchPal again and find it much more responsive but I cant seem to figure out how to add words to the dictionary ?! Could someone please post a quick run through of how to add a custom word ? Apologies for asking what is probably a dumb question !
Guest quincy456 Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 i cant get words added either - hoping one of the experts on here knows! this forum is excellent for helo with stuff the manual didnt mention
Guest le_lutin Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 Just type the word letter-for-letter on the qwerty keyboard. That's it. The word will be suggested next time you go to type it.

Guest Spook Tooth Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Have you gone into Touchpal's Basic Settings menu (Menu/Settings/Locale and Text) and checked 'Correct mistyping, Predict next word and Enable prediction' and in Android keyboard settings, checked 'Quick fixes, Show suggestions' and 'Auto-complete'? In any case, I'm now using the Better keyboard (paid for) app from Better Android and that allows you to manually add words to the user dictionary.

I find it laggy as well. And it sometimes doesn't register inputs.Usually a space so I keep typing and end up with a word that makes no sense!
Guest Spook Tooth Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Nothing worse than a laggy keyboard... Have you tried the Better Keyboard app, that isn't laggy at all and in fact actually performs far better than the default Android one. It's easy to apply new skins too, and once you've paid for the main app you can get free skins that aren't bad at all. :)
Guest biron_w Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 I wanted to try better keyboard but can't buy anything from the market as I only have a maestro card and google checkout doesn't accept them.
