Guest unlazyfree Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 so my friend has a droid and he has an app where if he loses his phone, he can send a text to it (with a certain phrase) and it will turn the ringer on even if it's on silent or vibrate so he can locate his phone. Is there an app like that for windows mobile? preferably free

Guest unlazyfree Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 (edited) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=464336 or http://sourceforge.net/projects/remotetracker/ that was quick the first link, it seems like it does way more than what i want it to do, not to mention doesn't really do what I'm looking for. neither does the second..I'm not looking for a gps tracker, just something where if I send my phone a text (from a friends phone) with a certain 'secret phrase', then it'll turn the ringer on loud and ring until I find it. just a simple app that runs in the background..no need to backup or track via gps. I found an app that does something like it called Lockout Mobile Security, but I have to access the web via computer, log in, etc. when all I want is to send a text and my phone screams at me till i find it EDIT: nvm, i think remote tracker will do what i want it to..thanks!! However, if there's a program that JUST does the phone locator, i'd prefer that..something where I can choose the passphrase that'll turn the volume up that way a friend doesn't find out the phrase and sends it over and over (unless I can change the rt#ALARM) Edited January 19, 2010 by unlazyfree
Guest bpivk Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 A friend can't send the phrase unless he has his phone registered in your device. You have to select which phones can send the messages and unless you select it he won't be able to control the program. I know what you were looking for but I couldn't find a program that would just make some noise so those two program will have to do if you can't find anything better. And you're safe from thieves. :)

Guest bpivk Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 (edited) Hmm then try the other app. I'm almost sure that one of both apps had that option. I have checked the apps. The first app (Smart Protect) has to have the phone registered to accept the command. But I think that it doesn't have the alarm function (I need to check if it exists but is undocumented). But it does support mort script commands so you could write one to loop some king of alarm mp3 sound. EDIT: I found this. http://sourceforge.net/projects/dsmp/ It's freeware and the webpage says that it has the alarm function. Edited January 20, 2010 by bpivk
