Guest thehoodlum Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Hi, I've dropped my i900, and now when i try to turn it on, it has a little bit of backlight for a few seconds, but then the screen goes blank with no backlight...it still plays the little audio boot-up tune so i know its doing its thing but i cant actually see anything. Can anyone give me any ideas on this? Im wondering if its possibly a loose connection somewhere perhaps, or is it possible to fix with a new LCD screen? Im pretty devastated so any help is much appreciated! Thanks in advance

Here is a disassembly guide. I pulled mine apart to put in a new digitizer as I got a gaping scratch on mine! :) http://www.formymobile.co.uk/omniadisassembly.php

Still havent found the time to sit down and pull it apart cause i know i need a good few hours when i can concentrate! It was dropped off a 2nd story onto concrete, so it was pretty serious. It did have an extra plastic casing which might have helped but all the same it was a bad fall. I'm hoping it might just be a loose connection but if not i guess i'll try a new LCD!
Guest thehoodlum Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Oh and sorry, theres no crack on the display but now there is a divide down the middle of the screen when i turn it on, one side of the strip is black, the other side a light grey, but on both sides he backlight is shining through a little. Seems pretty weird, i really hope its fixable!
Guest darkside80 Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 If you're phone is in activesync mode you could try http://www.mymobiler.com/ And see if it actually works or not.

If it is, the hardware should be fine and you just need to crack it open and check the display plugs or invest in a new LCD! ;)
Guest thehoodlum Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 Thanks everyone for the help. Activesync will recognise the phone and i can browse it with windows explorer, everything still seems to be there....but the mymobiler program won't connect to it. Im wondering whether this might be a screen issue or something, perhaps mymobiler needs a working screen to make a connection. Anyway i'm hoping that it can be fixed with a new screen. Thanks again.

My Mobiler does't need a working screen I used it to back-up my phone after I cracked my screen and the phone was in usb mode. I would think that because you're phone doesn't get past the "pin" screen , my mobiler can't install the client in the phone. But if activesync connects and you can browse the phone everything works ok. You should open it up before buying a new screen and see if is not just a faulty contact.
