Guest Jonnyw2k Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 I'm assuming you have a gmail account which you can sync your phone with. First you need to export files from outlook http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer....mp;answer=12118[/url'>]Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express: Here are some general directions to follow, though instructions may vary by version. For more detailed instructions, open 'Help' in Outlook or Outlook Express and type 'export' in the search box. Look for topics that include 'export wizard,' 'export information,' 'exporting contacts' or 'exporting address book contacts' in the title. From Outlook: * Select File > Import/Export > Export from the main menu * Choose Comma Separated Values (Windows) > Select "Contacts" > Save exported file From Outlook Express: * Select File > Export > Address Book from the main menu. * Select Text File (Comma Separated Values). * Click Export. Once you have done this you should have a text file or csv file (not sure what extension outlook adds to it) Now using this file you need to import it as follows: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=14024]Importing CSV files To import contacts to Gmail: 1. Create a custom CSV file, or export the address book from your other webmail provider or email client as a CSV file. 2. Sign in to Gmail. 3. Click Contacts (located below your list of views) on any Gmail page. 4. Click Import in the top portion of the Contact Manager. 5. Click the Browse... or Choose File button and locate the CSV file you'd like to upload. 6. Select the file and click the Import button. Once you've successfully uploaded the document, Gmail will display the number of contacts imported. A few things to keep in mind: * If some entries aren't included in your Contacts list, Gmail tells you why these entries were left out. * If you receive error messages when attempting to import your contacts, you may need to edit your CSV file. Once you done this you will have to sync your phone with your Gmail. In the meantime I will have a search for direct sync
Guest Jonnyw2k Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Ooops just noticed its outlook contacts on your phone lol, I will post another reply just to leave the other one up as reference. Right idea number 2: http://www.google.com/mobile/sync/ Using that and your old phone sync your contacts to your Gmail account. Then sync your Gmail account to your new phone.
Guest clifhanger_uk Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 (edited) Hi folks, i knwo this should be easy but doesnt feel it. How do i copy my outlook contacts from my old htc onto my new hero??? please help T Assuming you have the contacts from your old HTC sync'ed with Outlook you can either use the Google contacts route mentioned above. Or I just installed HTC Sync (the sw should be on your SD that came with Hero, or download from here). This will sync yr contacs directly from your Outlook profile. Alternativly there is a exchange sync support on Hero, but obviously only appropriate if you use corp exchange. Edited January 22, 2010 by clifhanger_uk
