Guest Sculli Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 A very quick question (or two!) for those of you that seem to read the small print much more closely than me....... I know that you can switch between "Your Plan" price-plans each month without any penalty, but can you also do this with OVP tariffs? Also, the SVP promotional pack specifically exluded the OVP Virgin price-match tariff, but when the promotion ends can I then change to the Virgin OVP and keep my phone? The novelty of GPRS is wearing a bit thin and I'm finding myself using it for things that I can easily do over the normal phone.... getting numbers, traffic updates, train times etc. Strange but true! Thanks etc etc.......... Sculli
Guest SirGaz Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 As far as I know, you can swap around to your hearts content, although Orange seem to frown on people swapping all the time, and also swapping in the first three months of your contract. My girlfriend swapped easily enough from one OVP to another just last week.
Guest paulend Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 i think that u can swap in the first three months to a higher tarrif no problem, but u have to pay the difference in handset price if the new tarrif is lower. after the three/four months, you can swap to any tarrif u want, without any charge. this is what i thought anyway :?: ;)
Guest Sculli Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I thought that the 3 month initial terms was only with re-sellers of the phone.... mainly internet compnaies such as Smalltalk and Mobile Republic?! That is how they can give the phone away for (next to) nothing. If you buy the phone direct from Orange, or a high street chain such as Carphone Warehouse (as I did), is this still the case? Sculli
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I bought mine form the Link on Talk 120 for £99.99, I phoned OCS 3 days later and changed down to Talk 60, with no extra charges or hassle...
Guest Kal-el Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 we say 3 months as that is the amount of time that Orange PCS gives retailers before paying them. If the tariff is changed sooner then the cost is absorbed by the outlet. Depends if u wanna screw them over really - beware though, they will be notified and any problems or questions that do not have to be resolved by the retailer - though usually would be out of kindness, they will more than likely politely tell you to fcuk off! ;) There is no problem changing between OVP. U need a clear bill and have to keep each one for min 1 month. Bare in mind that if u change from an "old" talk 60 or more tarrif you will never get it back so from there on out you will need to pay for your ins etc. hope that helps.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Bare in mind or bear in mind? Ooer! ;) P
Guest Mark Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Its actually been changed to 120 days. Orange pay commission after 30 days but then claw money back from the retailer if the customer changes down tariff. They also pay the retailer more if you move up a tariff!! ;)
Guest Kal-el Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Sorry, meant before they can't change it! but i was wrong about the 3 months tho...
