Guest level140 Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 I have an insurance plan for my omnia, and it's kind of screwed up. If I went to verizon and said I lost it, would they give me an omnia 2 for $50?
Guest Abqcub Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Not the first time. Verizon's policy with the insurance and handset exchanges is; if you replace your phone 4 times and still have problems they will replace your phone with a comparable one. This may or may not mean getting an O2, because the omnia one, is the bargain smartphone now selling for like $10 with a two year contract. I'm interested to know what the call comparable, because my omnias been buggy lately so I was considering doing an exchange. The only problem is they send refurbs till you hit the 4th one and eligible for a new device. I would be interested in at least getting an O2 if not a Droid or an Eris
Guest compnird Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 I have an insurance plan for my omnia, and it's kind of screwed up. If I went to verizon and said I lost it, would they give me an omnia 2 for $50? That is how I got my Omnia2. Except that I never buy insurance, I just make sure that I have an "issue" before the warranty expires. On the Omnia 1 you can get them to swap it out by flashing the default VZW ROM and if you have screen issues it will never get out of the initial Calibration mode. I did that twice and on the 3rd time they sent me an Omnia 2 and replaced all my accessories (Car adapter, Screen protectors, extra stylus, extra wall charger and extra battery) but I had to send the Omnia 1 stuff back part for part. I think it was a good trade. Note: All the accessories I had purchased through Verizon so they had record of the purchase. I highly doubt they will do the same if you purchased them off e-bay or something.
Guest jbr05ki Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 I hate getting refurbs. I'm on my 2nd one. 1 more I should get an upgrade?
Guest Squintz82 Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 I'm on my 2nd Omnia since the screen sensitivity on my first one was basically non-existant. So how exactly can you have them replace the Omnia 1 with an Omnia 2? Do I just keep bringing the refurb replacement back with issues?
Guest level140 Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 I have the insurance plan on it for "the same or comparable phone". So, if I bring it back, I get another omnia?
Guest rcicu Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 what issue can i cause with my omnia to get them to replace it? Unfortunately mine has been trouble free...
Guest Abqcub Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Flash the CF03 update and then pull the cord out halfway through. Tell them it failed to flash your device, and bricked it.
Guest champaned_out Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 anyone know if verizon has trade in policies? i still have my orginial omnia, BUT i just recently got a refurbed one from the company because my original has a bunch of scratches on it... would it make a difference when trading in the original or a refurb one? if verizon does do trade ins?

Also where can I find the CF03 update? :) But are you sure that they won't be able to bring it back to life? ;p Edited January 28, 2010 by odigon
Guest Abqcub Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 CF03 update here http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa/jsp/fa...mp;AT_ID=157996. The Verizon techs won't do anything more than take your payments and try and sell you new phones. Its one of those awful corporate customer service things that'll work to your advantage. Its easier for them to send a refurb than have them worry about trying to deal with firmware
Guest kdkinc Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 (edited) No darn it !! first thy say we'll exchange for the newer version omnia i920. Then the pesky Verizon clerk finds a new i910 "Oh we have give you this"....RATS!! Do I sound bitter? I mean I could smell the i920 coming. Rats again!!! At least this new (not a remfg.) i910 works way better than the one that had a rom accident... :) B) :D B) Edited January 29, 2010 by kdkinc
Guest Abqcub Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 I heard on another forum that the equivalent phone is an HTC Touch Pro, so the O2 may not be possible.
Guest rcicu Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 well i'm on my first replacement. So hopefully 2 more and I will get an O2 or a Droid :D

Guest JONBOMBO Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 (edited) i have been in the middle of the replacement limbo zone for a week now. On my 3rd omnia, so they said they'd give me something else. First it was a TP2. Then they called back and said they didn't have the back cover or battery in stock. Then they (tech support) checked their list for anything that would work. Offered me the original touch pro...nah. Couple days later they called me again. Would the Omnia 2 work for you? They asked.... YEP. Ok, verified address...DONE! Two hours later, called me back. Sorry, we dont have the back cover for that one either. Hmmm....So now we're going down the line and no phone is complete. Im hearing Imagio...nope, O2...nope....AHHHHH Whats it gonna be? Offered me the Palm Pre. Cool phone, but im not interested in the Palm OS. So i say, not to be picky, but no thanks. So then he offers me a brand new (no refurb) with all replacement accessories Droid Eris. I try and counter with Droid. He checks, no Droids. So my Eris arrived today. Guess im switching to Android Edited February 16, 2010 by JONBOMBO

First two occation i send it through CPW, who's cutomer service was very bad! Cheers' J i have been in the middle of the replacement limbo zone for a week now. Guest aclarkc Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 Question for Verizon users...do you pay the $50 deductible for EACH of the 4 replacements, or do you just pay the first one? My screens been messed up twice now, trying to decide if I want to take it back again.
Guest Dork6243 Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 When I called they were out of Omnias, so they offered me the HTC Ozone (which isn't even touch) or an HTC Touch Diamond. I respectfully declined by telling the lady to go :D herself. One week later they happened upon a refurb i910, which works for me since my issue was cosmetic. :D THANKS BIG RED!!!
Guest thekevster Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 i'm gonna get a plan going to get them to replace it 3 times then give me a new one and not make it look suspicious that the same problem is happening 4 times. i already have problems with my screen alignment being way off so i can do that for the first one. 2nd one i'm going to try to give it the endless loop on calibration. 3rd one i'm going to pull the cord on cf03 update and brick it. what about the final one? any ideas? lol

Guest thekevster Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 how are you going to do the endless screen calibration? not sure yet. it already does it if i go into the screen calibration manually. when and if i get a replacement omnia i'm gonna try flashing to 6.5 and then going back to cf03 and see if it gives it the endless loop.
Guest twisty Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 im on my 4th refurb. i have no faith in vzw replacing it with an actual working phone. its still under warranty as well as having the insurance plan. im sick and tired of dealing with them on this crap. first the screen goes black and i cant see anything. next one has the endless calibration thing. next one never got more than 1 bar of service and wouldnt ring. last one the gps wouldnt lock in at any time. this one the gps works, but the phone goes through phases where it will randomly bleep at me and tell me there is no service. im thinking wherever im getting my refurbs from has an endless supply of crappy rebuilds for me to go through
