Guest islamicwarrior27 Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Hi, I have been an Omnia i910 user for about two months, but I consider myself quite advanced with said device. I believe my Omnia has some perks that the Omnia II does not, but I have seen the 3D Cube User Interface and I fell in love. So, I ask, if there is any way to put this interface on my phone. P.S. I would prefer a cab file, but anything will do. Thank you very much in advance.
Guest TheDrizzle Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Don't think it's possible because of a lack of hardware 3d support on the original omnia.
Guest islamicwarrior27 Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 Don't think it's possible because of a lack of hardware 3d support on the original omnia. Thanks, but I still have my hopes up. I think that there has to be some way around this. I knew this lack of drivers from the beginning, but I love this UI too much to lose hope. I can't afford to buy an Omnia II, nor do I want to (I am too attached to my i910). And with this, I say, although I appreciate your advice , with much respect, please do not post unless you have a way to do as I requested. P.S. If anyone has a request for a cab file, I have a wide variety of cab installation files. Once again, thank you in advance.
Guest NilsE Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 And with this, I say, although I appreciate your advice , with much respect, please do not post unless you have a way to do as I requested. You asked an honest question and you got an honest answer. After 250 other people viewed this "request" you got one answer and it was probably the right answer (3D will not work on a 2D device). If TheDrizzle had not taken the time to give you an answer you would have received no answers. Which of those would have made you less happy. Good luck in your quest

Good luck in your quest I understand what you mean and I appreciate your honesty as well, but I have seen and used certain 3D software on my i910 (I cannot remember the name of the software but it had something to do with a tyrannosaurus rex and a tiger). Of course it was not perfected because of what you said (3D will not work on a 2D device) but it did work well enough to be usable. Thank you for the luck; I am sure I will need it. As you may know, windows mobile is extremely customizable. I understand that there is a limit to everything, but I do not think this is the i910's limit based on the software I used. Although I repeated this many times, I will continue to say this: thank you very much for anything you contribute. I am sorry that I tried to limit anyones freedom of speech (And with this, I say, although I appreciate your advice , with much respect, please do not post unless you have a way to do as I requested).

Well i agree with you theres gotta be a way; listen im using spb mobile shell 3.5 maybe you can somehow make a skin that uses the 3d effects in the program to make a cube interface panel ,shell runs really quick and has lots of 3d effects and it allows for skins and modding it maybe a type of 3d revolving cube skin because this already has revolving panels and revolving contacts page anyway i think thats the best way to make this happen seeing as how spb has put in the effects to what everyone says is a phone that cant do 3d ,the clock speed of the Omnia i910 is 625mhz?if thats so then its fast enough to do 3d thru software using a good interface as a start platform like spb mobile shell to make a cube panel ..good luck lemme know if you get anything going :)
Guest KP Admiral Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 It's not that the Omnia can't do 3d, its that it's not hardware accelerated 3d. So if the 3d cube was to be ported for use on the Omnia, it wouldn't be smooth...or fast. That is, instead of say a nice and slick looking 30fps with amazingly smooth look, you'd get more like 2-3fps, and it'd look choppy and aliased. Also given that Omnia II has a 3d accelerated section of it's ARM processor, the cube utilizes specific API in order to access those functions which are non-existent on the normal Omnia. All in all, unless someone hacked the actual cube interface to be optimized for the normal Omnia, there won't be a version available.

I think we got that already however there are software that do 3d like spb shell without a 3d accelerator and it runs very smooth it can be done kind of like the carousel in the contacts in spb or menus but a cube config
