Guest cruddasj Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Hey all. After spending alot of time and effort making ROMs I am kind of growing weary of it. I was hoping that I would see at least some donations from users but its just not been happening ;) (spare one from demented1 :) but in over 4 months of work this is not alot of donations) Its too much time to spend and too much work/risk to keep doing as often as I am at the moment (as i have to flash my phone every time something is changed to test that it works) So, in a bid to try and make this a bit more worthwile, I am willing to make people tailored ROMs to suit their specifications for a small donation. If anybody is interested in this please PM me and we can negotiate further B) If you would like a taster for my work, check out my ROMs @ http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general...ler-rom-thread/ Support is on hand and as most of you may know by now, i am a regular to the forum. I can provide email and instant messaging support and if needed, can script my own patches or changes that you would like. I can reassure you that private ROM production would be of highest priority and the timescales I quote will be met (or if possible early B)) Hope to hear from some of you soon :D Thanks

Guest Nicklashidegard Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 I wouldn't get too hung up on the donations thing. If you're doing cooking for money you're in the wrong place. I've been releasing roms since beginning of june (and cooking for around 10months) and had only 3 donations (3 more than i expected B) ). Some of my releases have had 1500+ downloads which is more worth than money in my opinion. However, i started cooking cos i had an interest in it and to get roms that suit my needs . Before that i used most roms available and used to flash 3-4 times/week, but never quite found "the rom". Personally i don't expect donations and it's not the reason i'm releasing roms. I could make a lot more money doing other things (if i'd put down these hours at McDonalds i'd be a millionaire!!). I think you're cooking for the wrong reasons and i don't think you can expect people to donate because they use your roms. Most people probably use 3-4 chefs roms anyway and you can't expect to donate to every chef you use. Did you do that when you flashed other chefs roms? Anyway, personalized roms is the way to go to make money, so good luck :)
Guest Sb. Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 Nick pretty much summed it up, and the main problem is if you do find someone it will be a real small minority of them that do not flash as soon as they see a new release as most people do on here. I must admit its a great idea but honestly for me there is no "perfect build or ROM" that I would pay for as is the reason I flash every build in hope that all problems have been solved, and with most people it would have to be a small amount to charge but that probably wouldn't cover the amount of time/risk you need. Maybe cutting down on the releases as there's not much new happening all the time anyhow. Up to you my friend, it would be a shame to see you go as a lot of us enjoy your work! :) Cheers!
