Can't save a photo, and SPV started new crashes

Up until this weekend I was quite happy with this, my 2nd, SPV.

At a charity event at the weekend though, I was trying to take photos and after I'd captured one, given it a name (or used the default New Picture) and clicked save, it returned me to the list of "new from camera" and pics you've already saved, but the one I had taken had a big red cross. And it wasn't the delay in loading a thumbnail, it never came up.

If I selected it, the new MMS had a file size of say 40Kb at the top, so there was some data there, but no picture appeared and the phone froze so I had to pull the battery. Every time.

So I now can't use photos. Can't save them, can't access them. The one I already have, from weeks ago, I can load.

Anyone had a similar problem with taking a photo and it not being saved? And then the phone freezing? (I have searched the forum, couldn't find a mention of it)

My advice?

Buy IA Album, or use the pretty good picture taking facility in the updated software ;)

MECX - now that's a good suggestion... I do have the SD card locked. Call me paranoid but why leave it unlocked? I'll try with the camera when I get home. Why would it save the photos in two places though? :?: Oh well.

There's a new program called Picture Manager which seems to

work quite well with the DK update.

I still donot have IA album to comare it with though

You'll need to have the SD card unlocked if you want to store anything to it. It's basically a write protect switch... stops you deleting stuff by accident. I nearly threw my phone across the room cos it kept giving me error messages when I was trying to take pics with IA Album. Then I realised that the card was locked! Try again with the card unlocked and you should be ok.

Aha! It works! Thank you MECX! ;)

Thing is, what if I don't want the photos stored on the card? I knew the lock switch was a write-protect switch, and deliberately left it locked as I didn't want the phone writing things to it. Why should it?

But ok, I can see that saving photos to the card means you can keep more, ok ok.

Thanks again :!:

That's precisely why I kept it locked. If I want to put tunes on my card, and I know I left xx space free, when I go to add more I want to know I can get them on there!

That's ridiculous that you're expected not to fill a card.

OK divvy alert .. dumb questions follow my symptoms:

1. I filled my phone with pics when in Paris. Ever since the first "No space" error then I haven't been able to save a 480Xwhatever it is resolution pic (I can however save the smaller types. Now I know what you're thinking, this idiot's got ver little space left, just enough for small pics and not enuff for big uns. Well I deleted everything form both phone and card that I could - phone has 5.5Mb and card has 7.5Mb.

2. To get around this I tried to figure out how I could choose where to store the files ... calls to Orange are a waste of time (if you want to compete with Vodafone, try refining your product and actually supporting it folks!!!) ... sorry dn see that rant coming! If you can do this ... how?

So, guys .. any suggestions (apart from upgrading to an SPVx that is!!!!)
