Guest mkzee Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 Hi, I can see a strange issue that when i connect my t-mobile pulse with car charger, battery icon is turned to charging for a second (which means that charger is working) and then it gets back to normal battery icon (battery status is also not-charging in settings) even if i keep the connector pressed. It does not charge as well. My phone is charging OK with mains charger. Actually, I bought a blackberry car charger because blackberry was also using micro usb-b connector. Is there some specific car charger required for pulse with particular voltage etc rating? I have also checked my HTC touch diamond by charging it in the car with mini usb cable and it works well without any problem. Has anybody faced such an issue?

Guest bindi Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 i have the same issue, couldn't find any way to solve it yet. I am using a car charger with USB interface bought from Poundland and it is working fine so far...I am using the original cable supplied with the phone.

Thanks for this information. I will buy a usb car charger to try with provided data cable.

Me too but I have other issue. When using the Pulse as navigation, despite it is plugged and charging it still consumes juice from battery. It constantly goes slowly down. This, and the fact that the device needs very long time to full charge at home (more than 3 hours), makes battery issues more painful. You always have to plan your charging :)

You always have to plan your charging :) This is a known issue that it drains battery very quickly when it is used for navigation. I tried it this weekend and got unexpected results as it was running for 2+ hours with non-working car charger attached though it started giving low battery message when charging was left less thn 50%. Have you find a good car holder for pulse or using some iphone compatible one?
Guest martoto Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Have you find a good car holder for pulse or using some iphone compatible one? Well, actually I ended up with a universal Herbert Richter. It does not look very pretty and I had to made a small DIY to mount it in landscape position, but there is not a real choice. I decided to not take a risk of ordering the iPhone's one, because although the size is similar, the shape of the iPhone differs.

Guest JimNu Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Have you find a good car holder for pulse or using some iphone compatible one? (From 'Car Holder' topic) Managed to nip into a Halfords yesterday and bought one of these; http://bit.ly/9H01Pl and it's a perfect fit for the pulse. It can be used in portrait & landscape and the grips do not cover the buttons. The clips at the bottom can be moved or taken off completely. Not cheap but it seems very well-made. I had bought a cheaper one from a random phone shop but it disintegrated in no time.

HR25310. the only problem is that it exists in different sizes, like small, medium and large and i don't remember which one i bought for my pulse. so maybe it's better to give it a try first if you have the chance.

Just searched for that model number and it seems exactly the same as the halfords mount I posted above, at a better price as well ;) especially as I already had a compatible stem.

Yep, checked mine today and it only works for a second and then says insert charger. So I guess I will need to buy a usb charger type socket.

Its just that I've seen this advertised and wondered whether it would be more suitable for charging while its in the car when using Sat NAV? 1000ma USB car connector
Guest steelgrey75 Posted February 21, 2010 Report Posted February 21, 2010 I got this car windscreen mount : http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/universal-phone...reen-p12635.htm Its a little wobbly, due to the flexible neck, but its not the worst Ive seen and its very cheap, it also holds the phone securely and you can rotate it for landscape. Also this charger : http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/powerwise-all-i...pack-p20685.htm Its perhaps not the cheapest you can buy, but I've never had the problem of it not charging (touch wood).

Thanks steelgrey75. Does this holder sticks to screen perfectly? I bought one from tesco for my htc touch diamond before buying pulse and it falls down in few seconds. Chargers seems good but i have acted on what was suggested before and bought a usb charger for £0.45 and it is charging perfectly with a spare cable bought from 7dayshop to use in office.

I bought a 1000 mA one on ebay, but when I connect the pulse the charger gets CRAZY hot and the charge of the pulse goes DOWN really quickly! Perhaps the pulse draws more than 1A?
Guest Fusion0306 Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 (edited) Did you ever get this? Any luck? I bought a 1000 mA one on ebay, but when I connect the pulse the charger gets CRAZY hot and the charge of the pulse goes DOWN really quickly! Perhaps the pulse draws more than 1A? Impossible... The Pulse supplied charger has 400 mA, and USB port's max current is 500 mA Edited June 26, 2010 by Fusion0306
Guest Speckles Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 Crazy hot sounds like too much voltage. Faulty product maybe?
Guest Fusion0306 Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 (edited) Crazy hot sounds like too much voltage. Faulty product maybe? I wouldn't plug my phone in that charger any more. The only way to be sure is to measure the current and voltage with an instrument Edited June 26, 2010 by Fusion0306
Guest gusthy Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 I use a Nokia micro usb car charger, works very well.
