Tips for Better Battery Life

Hello.

Does anyone have good tips to prolonging battery life on HTC Hero?

I have tried all the task manager killing stuff ... different roms ... etc. but I mostly get less than one day battery life. I realise that this is relative to usage but even when I don't use it the battery life I am getting is terrible compared to other phones.

Can this thread be used for people to post what they do to get longer battery life?

And also how many hours usage are you getting?

try to use spare parts to see statistics about the battery

things running in the background kill the battery

disable gps if your not using it, disable wi-fi ii your not using it, disable "enable always-on mobile" under wireless controls > mobile network settings.

also appz/widgetz that have auto-update features kill the battery. try setting a longer update time interval [mail, social apps, etc]

mail -> settings >send and receive > set download frequency [i have it at 30min]

i also charge my phone once a day, normal usage i would say

once i lasted me 2 days because i didn't use it that much.

once i used my phone at an exam for the calculator and used it a lot, plus at home. i don't know if i got 12 hours of battery time that day

try to kill apps that you're not using before u set your phone to sleep.

also playing games, listening to music, web browsing - for long periods of time drain the battery pretty fast. it's normal.

almost forgot, lower the brightness!

you can try checking:

settings - about - phone status

and down there is the Activity Timer

perfectly it must be below 20%

if >=70% - check your software that preventing your phone from sleep - thats the most battary saving method imho
