Guest ndot Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Hi I have recently begun using my T-mobile pulse as an mp3 player. I use the earphones when going out and I found that I could not hear anything in the city where lots of cars are. I also use a "pillow speaker" connected to the phone, at night to listen to podcasts in bed. I cannot hear anything unless I put the speaker right next to my ear. There is nothing wrong with the speaker as it works fine with my iPod. I think that the volume for things plugged into the audio jack are too low. Please help. Thanks
Guest Richard_Arkless Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 does it work fine when you use the built in speakers, try pressing the volume up button while you are listening to something um try wiping it also through the recovery if you have done all that

The media volume is on max. I have wiped the phone a few times and tried all 3 available roms. Thanks
Guest fivegoldstars Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 It's a known problem. If you're rooted and on a custom rom, try LVH app (Louder Volume Hack). Failing that, an inline headphone amp - Dealextreme etc sell them for a few quid.
Guest souljah777 Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Have you tried Audiomanager from the Market? It has a "System Volume" control that you don't seem to see anywhere else. It's definitely boosted my overall volume. It also has a handy widget that shows you all of the volume levels.
Guest ndot Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 I bought that app and it works but I would prefer a software update/hack that doesn't require an app to be installed.
Guest martinmax Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 There must be some hack or something in the softwere or kernel , i compared headpone output on pulse and iphone or mp3 player and there is a huge difference , some help us to boost headpone volume ! ps , i tried LVH and it only boost speaker volume , installed Audiomanager and its all maxxed
Guest helikopter Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 (edited) some time ago i opened a topic in this forum which was about this same problem. http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile...t/#entry1145772 as one can read in my opening post, sometimes the max volume level just increases. it seems to happen accidentally. i just want to mention that it happened again just two minutes ago. i wanted to run market enabler on my phone, but i couldn't succeed: it rebooted itself. but it wasn't a "normal" reboot: took only half a minute to have the phone fully functional again, so i'd say that it took only third of the time it usually takes to reboot the phone through the regular process. there's another proof that this reboot wasn't a full reboot of the device: i'm still able to install apps on the pulse, not just like after a normal reboot when i have to repair the ext partition. the main point: the volume now is about twice as loud through the headphones when i set the media volume to maximum like it used to be before. as i'm not into android i don't know how i would be able to log the changes that were made during the reboot, or how i could repeat this whole stuff intentionally but please, someone who's into that, check out what could be done to this whole low volume issue, because it seems, that the pulse is capable to produce much higher level of volume through headsets while the music stays clear. i know that i'll loose the increased volume after i reboot the phone next time, and i'm already very sad about that. ;) Edited February 5, 2010 by helikopter
