Guest pinkllama Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 hi all, got myself in a bit of a jam... bought a Pulse today and immediately tried to flash the 1.7 MDC vanilla rom onto it. I only got as far as putting the phone into boot mode and running INSTALL-SUPERBOOT-WINDOWS.BAT & INSTALL-RECOVERY-WINDOWS.BAT off this forum. now, when i restart the phone, it just loops between the white ANDROID letters and the T-Mobile logo with a circular pink animation. can anyone suggest anything? I'm feeling a bit of a plonker at the moment :)
Guest McSpoon Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 It's possible that your Pulse came with the 'December update' already installed. So installing the old v1.1 superboot may have caused the boot-loop (that version was from before the December update. Then the update came along and changed things, making it incompatible). I suspect those instructions were written before the December update so it would be wise to ignore those links and find the latest versions of the files instead. It's not a problem. I think you just need to use these files instead. The superboot root image: http://loadbalancing.modaco.com/download.p...mb0k87f9c51eqg9 The recovery image: http://loadbalancing.modaco.com/download.p...gl5iiciea41vu4t The MoDaCo Custom 8230 ROM v1.7 Vanilla style: http://loadbalancing.modaco.com/download.p...s6qqurd4i2w36zs Note: If at any time, you just want to get your phone back to it's original factory state, then simply install the T-Mobile UK Pulse December 2009 update. However it will erase any data you've stored on the phone, and any changes you've made will be gone. (I'm assuming your Pulse is from T-Mobile UK - if it's from a different region then use a different update).
Guest pinkllama Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 yes - you were spot on. it's a t-mobile phone with the dec update. at first i was only using the recovery image. with that the phone restarted fine, but there was no program to load the rom on the pulse. it was only when i loaded the old superboot file that the phone hung. trawling other threads, i found that turning the phone on with [end call] [menu] [power button] allowed me into the recovery/backup program. from there i wiped the phone and installed 1.7 vanilla. in hindsight, flashing the rom only 1 hour after getting my first android phone was a bit over optimistic!! all ok now though. thanks very much for your help - at least i know the correct way for next time. one question. do i need to put the AdbWinApi.dll file into the 2 folders in future before i flash a rom?
Guest McSpoon Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 Excellent. Good to hear it all worked out ok. ;) (Unfortunately I don't know about AdbWinApi.dll as I only use Linux for hacking my Pulse.)
