Guest daskalos Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 (edited) Well I think it needs 16Mb Page pool for touch wiz UI to function well and stable... Hope someone will cook a b7610 ROM with lesser pp (Maybe 10mb or 8mb) It might give us 90-100Mb free RAM (of course with TouchWiz disabled) Edited April 12, 2010 by daskalos
Guest daskalos Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 Uh-oh I was wrong, it's pagepool is not only 16mb...It's 20mb!
Guest barki82 Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 Uh-oh I was wrong, it's pagepool is not only 16mb...It's 20mb! Sorg mentioned in one post that 10mb should be enough, hope some cooker will implement it soon
Guest b7610_fan Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 (edited) it depends, if you use a small pagepool, your applications will run slowly. if you use a larger pagepool, your applications will run faster. 20MB pagepool & +/- 68mb free ram seems fair to me. Guest daskalos Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 Actually when I had an Acer M900, I manage to cook some m900 ROMs with different pagepools... With B7610, I have manage to adjust the page pool to 10Mb (from 20Mb) But I don't know how to recompile the new modified .nb to .nb0, for me to flash it with my device The command to recompile is: -nb0build <nb0_filename> <headerfile1> <sectionfile1> [<headerfile2> <sectionfile2...] I don't know what "header1" and "sectionfile" meant ;) Help guys....
Guest b7610_fan Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 you should ask ronald-mcdrive for how to rebuild the nbo. & read my comment: http://www.modaco.com/index.php?s=&sho...t&p=1178262 Editing the pagepool isn't really a solution. I even think it will decrease the performance of the device.
Guest daskalos Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 In my experience it really depends on the the running application For example, SPB mobile shell will crawl and lag at 2mb page pool, will run acceptably at 4mb and fast enough and stable at 6mb... Acer M900 default page pool is only 8mb yet between 4mb to 6mb it will run ok Maybe that's why Sorg stated that 10mb for B7610 will be ok, for even the most extensive applications needs more available ram than the stored ram (page pool). 10Mb pp is somewhat an acceptable value and might be quite enough for applications ;) Though multi-tasking might suffer especially if Touchwiz applications will simultaneously run... But in my case I disable it :D
Guest ronald-mcdrive Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 I cooked a ROM with a pagepool of 12mb instead of 20 which is working pretty good.
Guest kibiwi Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 I cooked a ROM with a pagepool of 12mb instead of 20 which is working pretty good. I read pako will release the new executor which can change the pagepool...but not out right now... How did you change the pagepool?
Guest ronald-mcdrive Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 I read pako will release the new executor which can change the pagepool...but not out right now... How did you change the pagepool? With i900_EXEcutor.exe
Guest kibiwi Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 With i900_EXEcutor.exe the 2.7 version or the upcoming 2.8?really good news if even 2.7 can change successfully the pagepool... ;) I heard that the system is stable with only 8 mb of pagepool so we can free 12 mb not bad indeed!
Guest Sumit Bhardwaj Posted April 9, 2010 Report Posted April 9, 2010 The pagepool on this phone is 20 MB confirmed. 12 MB is a sweet spot in my opinion ;) But I cant really find a tool that can change pagepool in the rom itself without recooking/rebuilding the nb0. Is there something like that in existence?
