Is it ok to 'hot swap' between Nandroid backups

I'm currently trying out a few of the 2.1 ROMs but getting fed up of inputting all of my settings each time. My question is really: As long as I perform a wipe in between is it perfectly acceptable to swap between say MCR 3.1 and Kagudroid Nandroid backups so that i can make quicker comparisons between the ROMs without having to enter all my settings and apps each time?

You don't need to wipe before restoring a nandroid backup, as it is a complete image of your phone.
