Downfrade Rom or Load Custom???????? Please help.

Hi all this is my 1st post and my 1st Android phone after moving from the terrible N97.

Hi have bought a white unlocked Htc Hero last week and upgraded to the lastest rom as recommended by another site.

Then i have come across custom roms and not sure if i can downgrade to root the phone and install a custom rom, or if i don't need to downgrade if there is another method.

i am running 2.73.405.5 CL#61267

Any help really appreciated.

i think you don't need to downgrade if you are running 2.73.405.5. just flash the custom recovery using flashrec and install custom roms from there.
