Phonecall Issue

Afternoon,

I'm having a very annoying issue with my HTC Hero.

Whichever rom I'm using; the same thing happens.

When I'm making a call, or receiving a call, at random moments my Hero cancels the conversation. Pretty much like I'm pressing the red button.

This can happen after a second, after 5 minutes, sometimes not at all, it's completely random.

I can't figure out whether that's a software, or a hardware issue. I've disabled and enabled the proximity sensor, which doesn't solve the problem.

I've tried calling someone, while my phone was on the table; same thing happens.

Does anyone have a clue, or a similar problem with the HTC Hero?

Thanks in advance!

I'm experiencing phone issues too but in the form of an immense delay

when I get a call, the person who calls me hears about 4-5 tones before on my phone the screen starts lighting up and the trackball starts lighting up

then it takes one more tone before my phone starts ringing

I've had it with MCR 2.8-3.2 and the CyanogenMod for HTC V1.0

can't remember if I had it with MCR 2.2 and stock rom (too long ago ;) )

You can try installing a new Radio on your Hero's, I think that should do the work.

having same problem with wife's Hero (however this was dropped in a cup of tea ;)..)

buttons work fine as well as handset however power options menu keeps popping up as a result ending active calls this happens at random.

I can only assume this is a result of liquid damage ..but your post very similar problem.

Paul is there any way of removing power options popup or even bypassing the end call key? << stupid question i know but still your the man to ask if this is possible

let the Hero live on lol

If you were willing to forego the warranty (the water damage tags will now be activated :(), you could disassemble the phone carefully and clean the affected area using some isopropyl alcohol (I think that's the right stuff to use. Best check though. I think another thread mentioned this within a couple of days ago. Try searching 'alcohol' as that term doesn't come up here too ofter ;)), and see if anything looks iffy. Maybe something around about the button.

Other than that, I don't know...

Isopropyl alcohol is the right thing to use. It is 99% ethanol, and is the best you can use to clean electronics.

I have the same problem, but I'm pretty sure it's not hardware OR software related... I'm on Orange UK and have had the problem ever since I got my first 3G handset from them a few years ago. It seems to happen whenever the signal switches between 2G and 3G. It used to happen very often on my old Samsung i8510.

Hmm, i wonder what the issue is then. I've also flashed the latest radio. Last couple of days it seemed like the issue was fixed, by flashing the radio and the latest 2.1 CyanogenMod. But then my mother called last night, and the same thing happened again: call got ended after a minute or two. It's extremely annoying, can't fix it with software it seems.

Oh, and i've never had that before on T-mobile, with other 3G cellphones. And i've owned quite a few in the last year.
