1) Volume hack

details http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=517745. Sound are always very subjective but good improvement on my Grado SR 80 headphone. Will never replace dedicated MP3 player but with this hack, much better in listening experience and overall improvements on sound of phone.

Simple process of pushing the required files through adb.

2) CPU=528Mhz

Hero is equipped with 528Mhz CPU but only reaches this speed when and if require only. Most times it is set and running at 384Mhz. Follow here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=628178 to set it such way that when using (SCREEN:ON) the phone, CPU always at it's max value and slightly lower during sleep (SCREEN:OFF).

3) Android Internal Taskkiller

Hot debates on Task killers. Set it to high values and see yourself how effectively Android memory system works. Uninstall those ATK!.

Set values depending on your requirements and experience and whenever Android needs memory, it'll kill all those not active programs to free mem's. More http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=622666.

MinFreeManager available free on Market. Only change last 3 values. My personal preferences are 35-46MB.

4) Improve 3G Speed

On modaco Roms, need to replace dropbear.sh with the one provided by Kendon here http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero...3g-speed-tweak/ and follow the instruction as posted. Or just edit build.prop.nopassword file.

5) Uninstall unwanted apps

adb rm /system/app/"name"

These are some great tips, i thought the "volume hack" was only for increasing the volume but now that i see that sound quality improves i'm really excited since the quality is pretty bad from the start.

But it says i need a signing tool if i want to use method 2, do you know where i could get one?

(i've never used or setup ADB, although i guess i should)

Has anyone tried the overclocking hack?

I tried it and didn't notice any improvement.

Also I noticed it seemed to freeze my phone for a few seconds after 'wake up'

Anyone else???
