Guest johnboyw Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 I know there is another thread on this and in it i said that if the box isnt opened you wont get a bill. Well that is wrong. I know now different from lots of sites ive read. I have had my Nexus One 3 weeks and only just got my bill! The worst thing is i bought my phone from ebay because the guy said he would send it as a gift. He sent it direct from Google the T**T. So not only did i pay over the odds i now get a vat bill, plus i oredered a dock the other day thinking i wont have to pay tax on that!!! ;)
Guest kaotix Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 Wow, that's harsh dude. If I was you I would contact the seller and complain. Possibly file a dispute on PayPal to recoupe the money you have to pay for VAT if his auction explicitly said it would be without VAT. I was tempted to purchased from eBay (£450+) and would have got it next day but after reading several articles on the actual price of the phone I decided to purchase direct from Google. I have yet to receive my VAT bill but I honestly don't mind paying the extra £60 (roughly) as it still works out cheaper than eBay and that included the UK charger too.

No, the other thread says exactly what you say... did you really need your own thread? Anyway, have you rated the guy on eBay yet? Give a negative unless he refunds your VAT ;)

Guest billy_boolean Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 And what about strangers buyers ? I bought mine from belgium with borderlinx...
Guest Shuflie Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 (edited) And what about strangers buyers ? I bought mine from belgium with borderlinx... Well if you had been in the UK and used borderlinx you'd still most likely have to pay VAT as they seem to use DHL to ship. As you are from Belgium you should be better able to answer whether you will be expected to pay whatever you local equivalent of VAT is better than someone from the UK could, check your local DHL website to see if they say anything about paying import duties on your behalf. EDIT: I'm assuming you meant you bought yours from Google through borderlinx and were having them ship it to belgium. Edited February 17, 2010 by Shuflie
