Guest EDBANGER Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 I'm having trouble getting the Garmin I aquired to work. I need to find out the device ID and I have managed to do this once but it stopped working and now I can't seem to get a menu option to let me see it. When it loads up it says "No towing service" at the bottom of the screen and "Military base" at the top. It has menu options but not the one that will allow me to select settings. Does anyone have any ideas what I need to do?
Guest EDBANGER Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 OK then does anyone have any suggestions as to an alternative sat nav available for the uk?
Guest DLCI Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 I was using garmin for a while in the past, but it's not a good piece of SW honestly...I can say the same about their PNAs btw, but that's irrelevant. If I remember correctly, Garmin has couple of files in its directory - one for the SW key and one for the map key (they had either no extension of smth unl or uln or similar) - try to move them somewhere else thus forcing the SW to ask you again for the registration..or try updating the complete XT software alternatively-certain updates are necessary for that c****y SW. When it comes to alternatives there are plenty of them - would look at Sygic Mcguider & iGO at your place
Guest EDBANGER Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 I managed to sort it out. I had to delete a file called "2577", reset and we had all the menu options back. Got it going from there. I found Garmin to very good when I had it working previously. Very accurate and easy top use. Cheers though ED
