Guest SSH Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 I have a degree in computer science but I have to confess that I really can't fathom some of the terminology here. I have a Pulse with the December update and here's what I want: I want to back up my contacts as the most important thing and be able to restore them once I've upgraded the ROM. If I can back up other stuff too, great I want to install a faster and reliable ROM as I want more battery life and a more responsive phone I want to be able to go back to the exact current state of the phone if it all goes wrong Now, I see that there's superboot, nandroid, recovery, titanium, vanilla, T-mobile, kitchens and various other terms knocking about and I've been reading the forums regularly for a couple of months and yet I still don't understand how to achieve the above without the risk of bricking my phone! Please, explain it to me like I'm a five-year-old!

Guest Daz555 Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 (edited) There are stickies at the top of the forum that explain how to install Recovery and also how to install the MCR ROM (either vanilla or T-mobile style). As for contact backup - logon to your google mail account from any web browser. Are you contacts there? If so, job done. Edited February 10, 2010 by Daz555
