Guest chrisspann Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 The hint's in the title, really - Is there anything specifically different I need to do to get one of the custom ROMs on my phone while using Ubuntu?
Guest Motoko Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 (edited) Once you've done this which has seperate instructions for Linux... http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile...on-your-device/ ...you can then upgrade from the sdcard ("Flash from SDCard" is the actual menu option in the screenshots). This means it won't matter which os you are using since all you are doing is downloading a zip and then placing that zip on the sdcard. Edited February 10, 2010 by Motoko
Guest David Horvath Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 I did everything from Ubuntu, i dont have windows, and it was a piece of (cup)cake. If you have questions, you can ask me, i dont know what could i write here..
Guest chrisspann Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Ah right. Next stupid question: When I plug the phone in, only the SD card shows up. What am I doing wrong?
Guest David Horvath Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Ah right. Next stupid question: When I plug the phone in, only the SD card shows up. What am I doing wrong? What else you want to be shown? It acts like a card reader, so thats normal, i assume.
Guest ippoP Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Ah right. Next stupid question: When I plug the phone in, only the SD card shows up. What am I doing wrong? What do you expect other than that? For the real stuff you need to use adb.
Guest chrisspann Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Oh, I see. I thought that... No, you'll just laugh at me.
Guest Motoko Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Oh, I see. I thought that... No, you'll just laugh at me. It's quite obvious what you was thinking. You was expecting to access the rest of the file system from / (root) etc. Even if it wasn't, do yourself a favor and read through all of this first... http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Huawei_U8220 You'll learn a lot more from there and learn it a lot quicker than potentially making a fool of yourself on here ;)
