What's the difference between the different WinMo builds?

Hi.

I am seeing a lot of rom's based on many different Windows Mobile builds. What's the difference between these?

Are there big differences in speed? Are some more stable than others?

What's the newest build numbers now, and what build numbers are most stable?

Ps. I am trying to find a M2D rom that is as easy as possible to use, and as stable as possible, any recommendations?
