Do I have root permissions?

Hi all,

I have an rooted phone, and I am running Cyanogen's Mod 5.0 Beta 4 and I have run into t afew issues.

1) If I am in terminal and try to use the SU command I get permission denied

2) Market enabler doesn't' work

3) WiFi tethering doesn't

I was thinking it could be a permissions issue and that even thought the bootloader is OEM unlocked that I don't have root access.

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers

Unlocking the bootloader will not grant you root access, but it lets you flash a custom rom and almost all do have root.

as you do have cm5, there is root access.

your problem is probably related to usb-debugging. turn it on in settings and you should be good.

I have USB turned on, have tried a few different combination of ROMS and re flashes and to be honest I am at my wits end.

Some guys over at XDA mentioned fix_permissions from the shell have tried that and still no luck.

URgh ;)

you do for sure have settings -> applications -> development -> usb-debugging turned on? check that once more please :D

i can hardly believe this does not work in any rom.

tried 'adb shell' from your computer? what happens?

I was having issues with losing root access, these are the steps I took to fix them:

1) Wipe

2) instal nexus-adon-0.1-signed.zip

3) without rebooting flash Cyanogen Beta 4

4) Reboot you should have root back.

It worked for me I was starting from Bets 5 with the new radio flashed. I am currently putting everything back on. I didn't do a nandroid back up as everytime I did it didn't work.
