Guest MacCarron Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 Just wanted to report what some ingenious people have been cookin up ;) http://www.tombom.co.uk/blog/?p=124 http://adq.livejournal.com/ And the original thread @ XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=631511 This sounds very promising :D :(
Guest pulser Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 Just wanted to report what some ingenious people have been cookin up ;) http://www.tombom.co.uk/blog/?p=124 http://adq.livejournal.com/ And the original thread @ XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=631511 This sounds very promising :D :( Sure does! I'd love this. Hope Paul or Teknologist can add the necessary patches to their kernels to enable this. One thing though, as not everyone will have any need for this feature: will there be any disadvantages of having this enabled, ie. reduced battery life or lack of ADB/normal USB? Or would we be able to switch mode via. a little app or widget? Just wondering, but this is great news, and thanks for posting!
Guest ippoP Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 (edited) Then we only need a quite weird USB adapter, as the one on the phone is device type. [EDIT] I read the original article at http://adq.livejournal.com/95689.html and it is done with a modified USB hub. Smart! Edited February 12, 2010 by ippoP
Guest dawabz94 Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 This is something I dream of Had this on my *VERY OLD* pocket pc loox 720 And bee missing it since Would be gr8t to see that implemented on the Hero Thanks for the hope ;)
Guest stevenz Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 The iRiver H3xx series mp3 players had this feature, quite useful. I was actually thinking about someone hacking this in yesterday coincidentally, good to see there's other people (with actual ability!) on the same wavelength.
Guest Catscrash Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 wuho... well the necessary cable can be made at home quite easy... would be perfect if that would be available in modaco-rom... anyone tried that already?
Guest ilovemodaco Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 wuho... well the necessary cable can be made at home quite easy... would be perfect if that would be available in modaco-rom... anyone tried that already? I wouldn't suggest trying that my friend. At xda and adq's blog things have so far looked good but you might be left with a host only phone (for now, you'd have to get the old, unhacked rom back to use the phone as a client). IMHO we should wait for things to be developed and a user-friendly way to switch between host/client is shown :D
