Hi,

Can anyone who is using an 9200 with a Hero answer a couple of questions?

1) Does it route the sav nav voice instructions through the parrot unit?

2) Does the phonebook sync at all, or do you have to dial all numbers from the phone?

3) Is it a combination that you would recommned?

Many thanks

Matthew

Hi,

Using hero with mki9100 - as Hajo said, works fine and as expected - occassionally doesn't sync the missed/recent calls automatically, but haven't checked since updating the parrot firmware.

Thanks Andrew & Hajo,

Just tried the demo unit in Halfords, but it wouldn't sync any contacts, hopefully it was an old firmware version.

Will now find the cheapest place to buy one from

Thanks

Good luck - hopefully it's just a firmware issue. Shame there was no one here with the right version to put your mind at rest! Like I said mine has had occasional issues with syncing, but works most of the times I use it. Also - this will likely improve with the bluetooth improvements in HTC's 2.1 update for the hero (or better yet, Pauls's repackaged version...)

Cheers,

Andrew.

Found a decent price, was about to order... £144 delivered.

Then I stumbled upon...

http://www.tyresmoke.net/forum/tyresmoke-r...ee-car-kit.html

Feeling nervous now!

Hoping that his comments on the sound quality aren't typical!

I shyed away from the 9200 as just when I was considering it Parrot dropped the text messaging support, and I saw little value in the larger screen. As the kit for the 9100 speaks who's calling you when the phone rings you don't even need to look at it, and otherwise the scrolling menu works fine for me. The 9100 has USB/AUX/iPod/BluetoothAudio and has never crashed on me - though the large screen of the 9200 would make quick glances at the call list nice and easy...

As for sound quality - the system in my volvo needed a specialist cable to connect all together, and some clever wiring for the mute function, but it's very good. As for music - I find the quality more than adequate for my needs - streaming music/podcasts from my phone or hooking up an mp3 player (or sticking in a USB stick) plays everything just fine - not wonderful sound but not terrible, and sufficient really (for me anyhow). If you're looking for a better music solution maybe something from pioneer might be more appropriate? Their units include parrot BT but don't use the parrot amp - can route through a 3rd party amp for your music - very expensive though!

Anyhow, you could always try it out, and if you don't fancy it sell it on?

Cheers,

Andrew.
