Guest loedie Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 Is there a backup program that backups all the apps installed on the phone, and easily can install it back on an newly flashed rom? So that I don't have to install all the apps that I want by hand?

Guest dr_ysp Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 Astro also does this. +1 yup titanium cant be used on stock roms as it requires root & busybox. still gives some errors its giving me errors here in MCR3.2b5 also. i dont like it.
Guest masterpfa Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 (edited) Second that :D I Thirded that!! It's my main back-up tool when flashing new ROMS. Flashed countless numbers of ROMS AOSP, Cyanogen, MCR, MCCR, CKDRoid to name a few after restoring, even apps like Co-Pilot contain all my previous setting i.e. preferences, favourites POI's etc Once I have flashed a new ROM I install Titanium Back Up, as the only app from the market, run a Batch Restore and all apps and setting are restored. Has worked for me EVERYTIME! Get the donate version and you will not look back. :D Edited February 13, 2010 by masterpfa
Guest Konrad Walsh Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 RE ASTRO When i used that it did not back up the market entries... this is essential
Guest Dr. dre Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 RE ASTRO When i used that it did not back up the market entries... this is essential If you want the market entries, use titanium backup that's the best.
Guest loedie Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 Well this sounds to good! :D Thank you all for advising, this saves a LOT of time when I install a new ROM! :D Thanks!

Hi ! Yes, of course I agree that maybe 9 of 10 phones are running non-rooted stock ROMs, and would love to do more but how ? I mean, today's "normal" backup apps are already doing everything then can do without root... App data backup, Protected apps backup, Market entries backup... unfortunately, none of this can be done without root. Indeed that is restricting but what could I do ?

Titanium then acts as the same as others. It still backs up but not all the extra features...
Guest sinnadyr Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 Just more reason to root ur phone :(
Guest Keramidas Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 Yeah absolutely :( It has become a bit easier with the busybox auto-download feature. Now you should only need a well rooted ROM (ie: one with a functional "Superuser whitelist" system app) and it should do the rest.
Guest pinnnnn Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) Hi, just used this as upgraded to 3.2 and have got all my apps back. Couple of queries though: None of my home screens are as they were, wallpaper, widgets etc - is this not backed up? Also it seems to have copies of old programs which I uninstalled ages ago. Is there a way to stop these being backed up as they are obviously taking up space? Thanks Edited February 23, 2010 by pinnnnn
Guest Keramidas Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Hi, For your home screens: have you tried rebooting after the restore ? And for the old apps: I assume you still have them as backups ? You should delete these backups so they won't be restored in batch next time. Thanks

You're welcome ! No, indeed the WiFi access point list is one of the very rare things that is not backed up yet.

Hmm,,no home screens etc have appeared. Also progs that I had disabled from auto running and those I had pinned to notification bar aren't as they were. Sorry to sound as if I'm moaning - just wasn't sure if this is expected behaviour or not

Guest pinnnnn Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 No problem :-) Did you include the green [DESKTOP] item ? That should cover your desktop configuration. I just did the batch operation( prolly why I have the old apps too) so I thought it would have covered it all. Just realised that I forgot to include the mail app so am going to have to do it all again now. Ho hum...

If you use a batch operation, be sure to use "Backup all user apps + system data" otherwise you would have to backup the "system" items manually the first time... Once they are done, for updating your backups you can just use the "Forced redo of your backups" which *will* include the system apps that you backed up before.
