Guest iceman3co Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 Is there a way to better integrate Google Voice into the contact list such as I can program certain contacts to automatically use my G Voice number and other contacts, my cell number? I know of the option to chose which number I want to use each time I call, however, its getting confusing which contacts I usually call with the different numbers.

Going to determine the feasibility of making something like this :D
Guest iceman3co Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 Does anyone have any more information on this?
Guest slyydrr Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 So after thinking about this, I can't see it being done without writing a separate app. I would however be interested in writing an app like this if there is some interest. Using you as a initial receptor, would you see something like this as useful, or does it not make sense to handle this if you'd be replacing your default dialer?
Guest sealos Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 I would actually love to have this functionality. Being on AT&T and having an A-list (list of numbers I can call for free), I tend to call the A-list number without Google Voice and all others with Google Voice. Another feature (nice to have) would be to have a timed profile so I can dial without using Google Voice on the weekends since I have free weekend calling to all numbers. Thanks and hope you are able to create something. Cheers, Sealos

If anyone would like to be part of a test group, please PM me and I'll see where we can go with this. No promises as I need to see what kind of functionality is left open to use from other apps (toggling google voice on/off through API calls) but I will see where can take this.
Guest slyydrr Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 I just did some quick initial work to test some of this out using a library someone else wrote, and I can get it to send SMS messages and also place calls in a roundabout way. Regarding the calls, it's currently calling my phone which then forwards the call to whichever number I want to call (as if you're calling through the web site) so I need to figure out if there's a way around this. I'm going to finish up my other app, and then I'll come back to this, but I think we have something to work with here. Ben
