Guest Angio Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 (edited) Ok I did some update.zip testing on lickon recovery.img and it works, what doesnt work is backup and backup restore, so we wont be able to back up :D but wipe and flash update work :D I have 2.1 update.zip ready for flash, I will optimize it to the fullest and hopefully it speeds things up  Well I have had time to play with the 2.1 Eclair update for Liquid and here is my progress so far. So, these are some things going on with this update, overall its freaking awesome its exactly like the nexus but nexus has few different apps. So when you upgrade to 2.1 you will lose root but, dont worry we now have superboot root on this but no recovery.img, Lickon's recovery.img does not work with 2.1, you can flash it but it does nothing when running an option (just gives you an error). The update im on is very laggy I have cleaned it up for it to be a little stable, im sure the new release will be more stable then this and I hear there will be an update after this 2.1 update (the later update will add Multitouch all around and a newer baseband). Note: so everyone is wondering what LiquidE is and i am going to clarify that here based on what I have been told ok. LiquidE is not a new device its going to be the 2.1 OTA Firmware update to Acer Liquid. E stands for Eclair (Liquid Eclair) im sure when Froyo is out it will be named LiquidF. So with that said lets move on... (LiquidE = Acer liquid 2.1 OTA) if Acer decides to release a LiquidE device then it will be an Acer liquid with pre-installed 2.1, nothing more source says :D (will update this if anything changes) What it has: and everything is new!! "bootloader" -V1.00.05 "baseband" -1.03.05.02 "firmware" -2.1 "kernel" -2.6.29 "Build ID" -ERD79 What apps are New: -all new frameworks and apk's -New lockscreen (menu does not unlock anymore, you must slide your finger to unlock it) -New Mms -New Conatcts -New keyboards (nice ones) -New Dialer -New Market (lots of live wallpapers in the market) -New Camera -New Browser -New Gallery3D -New FaceBook -New NemoPlayer -New Settings -New Music -New Voice input -New Youtube -New Gtalk -New Gmail -New Email -New Calculator -New Launcher2 -New DeskClock -New animations -New Livewallpapers (I have been running live walls since flashed and I still have full battery) -VoiceSearch and VoiceDialer pre-installed What Has been fixed: -Nasty 1.6 Camera has been fixed -Nasty Phone Dialer fixed -All hardware buttons are now easy to use (for example when shutting down your device you can easily turn it back on or boot into recovery) -audio seems to be fixed (not much tested there) -market paid apps (found) What I have noticed: -battery life is doing great with livewallpapers running at all time (8+ hours running live walls and 83% battery left) -Camera really looks perfect (5.0 picture perfect) -loud incoming rings and notifications (good bass in music) -market shows all paid and some livewallpapers -better signal Hardware combo's: -power + volume down + camera = Recovery -power + volume up + camera + = 2 vibrates... now remove battery and re insert it now press camera + power = bootloader Whats not new: -no landscape -no new bootanimation -urfooz -spinlets -Documents to go -acer registration -acer sync -task -acer sound recorder -no Multitouch Whats working: -everything works -bt -wifi -etc etc What has been added: -rooted -su -busybox -bash -dropbear -many more binaries -added CarDock.apk -added GenieWidget.apk -added amazon.apk -added googlegoggles.apk -added superuser whitelist -added term.apk -added spareparts.apk -added googlevoice.apk -added nexus boot aniimation -optimized Launcher2 -optimized frameworks Why I cant release to the public: -some people might get in trouble and lose job -its not stable enough -was not permitted to release bin (just preview) What I am asking for from the community: -please some patience I am trying to get this released as soon as possible -a new recovery.img  Edited February 16, 2010 by Angio

Guest Netgic Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 (edited) -added amazon.apk :D i hate this app. btw thanks for the infos Edited February 15, 2010 by Netgic
Guest Uxian Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 :D i hate this app. Doesn't seem all that useful to me to add apps that are available on the Market into the ROM unless their availability is restricted or you're providing enhanced versions since you don't then get update notifications and such. Amazon MP3 is in the Market now (albeit version 1.5, not 1.6 that's on the Nexus) and the Nexus APK can be installed via the app manager; no need to push it into /system/app anymore. Likewise with Goggles, Spare Parts, Voice Search and Titanium Backup that has been requested in the other thread.
Guest bais Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 Nice, hope that the lag gets fixed on the future update :D .

Guest gforr Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 Do you kwow when it will be relased by Acer?
Guest xian1243 Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 (edited) Great job Angio! I'm sure everyone appreciates your tedious work. It's better to wait for a stable ROM, and for people to keep their jobs, than to get a half arsed ROM, and people losing their jobs. It will come when it will come. I have just one request for your 2.1 ROM, Angio. That is a working tun.ko module (see page 16 of disc0's kernel thread, liquid_it has been able to compile one for disc0's custom boot.img, but causes the phone to restart when using VPNC or OpenVPN - when authenticating... The tun.ko insmods correctly and is shown when doing lsmod.) This is very important for european users, as with openvpn, we can tunnel our traffic over SSL (port 443) which is thankfully one of the two ports not blocked on vodafone's 3.5G network (they only allow HTTP traffic - 80, 8080, and 443). Which means no market over WiFi, no Fring, MSN, or any other app that uses the internet except the browser. I'm with SFR (french vodafone partner), and they block port usage too. Other than that, I think you've got it covered. Congrats again for all of your hard work. :D Edit: Angio, as it is right now, your 2.1 ROM is perfect. I personally prefer that you put the Nexus' apps (optimized for liquid, what you have already listed). That gives us Liquid modders some nice bragging rights. For the people who don't want the apps, can either delete them, or you can just release 2 flavors. One vanilla, and another with the nexus apps. So yeah, keep amazon.apk etc., there is no harm in putting them in (Angio knows what he is doing!). For me that list is 100% fine, just focus on cleaning it up, and possibly getting the same Dalvik performance tweaks like you did on the 2.000.16 ROM (and for JIT, would we need to recompile the kernel, or is that a simple config edit within Android?). That ROM has to be the best tweaked ROM IMHO. :D Edited February 15, 2010 by xian1243
Guest Andy__P Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 Wow you're making this real hard for us you know :D jk, thanks for the information! Do you know when they'll release it officially? Or when you can release it without people losing their jobs? :D
Guest Seth Cold Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 is the dialer a smartdialer? or like the regular, just prettier?
Guest bais Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 Angio can you show us a screen of the new keyboard (not dialer) please?
Guest rondstif Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 I only want to know a thing: is there the posibility of install my apps in the memory card? If the answer is NO, how many MB are free for apps in the phone memory? Thanks!
Guest Angio Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 (edited) updated images, and it is smart dialer Edited February 15, 2010 by Angio

Guest chingy1788 Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 If Angio says it lags, then its not ready I'm guessing March is still when it will be released Maybe the leak is a teaser (In which case, Angio, make the most awesome, clear, detailed video ever)
Guest rondstif Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 yes its possible and 160MB after flash This is in the official Android 2.1 or in a moddified ROM? It would be a very, very good thing that the official Android 2.1 let us to install apps in the memory card. Thanks for the info!
Guest cmchenth Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 no multi-touch is a bad news for me :D
Guest bbpoux Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 Does this rom support flash ???
Guest chingy1788 Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 no multi-touch is a bad news for me huh.gif 2.1 should support multi touch (apps) so you can put your dolphin browser in and you can use multi touch, maybe with official google maps too from what I've read, I think apps like the gallery and the stock browser wont be getting multi touch soon (Will be in another update around June) Does this rom support flash ??? From what I've read, all 2.1 devices will support flash (at least eventually)
Guest fanzkr Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 app2sd !!!this is very important!!!~
Guest Lioncake Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 Hello Angio first of all i want to thank you for supporting the growing "Liquid"-community with your great roms and for bringing us the news. I am patient, for me it would be ok to wait some months, its more important to get a stable image than a quick shot. But i have one question, it would great if you could answer: Is there any progress in improving the sound quality (music with phones) with the new rom, has Acer done anything in this direction? For me this is the weakest point of the Liquid, i really hope, that the bad sound could be improved... Best regards, Lioncake

Guest matlegro Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 Sound quality is great but, it still lacks on bass other than that its perfect, nice and loud, and distort less :D is still the audio delay in video recorded?
Guest liquid_it Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 is still the audio delay in video recorded? This bug is solved in ACR 1.5.1 + disc0 boot.img, if don't want to wait 2.1
