GPS not working

Recommended Posts

I've searched the threads, but haven't found answer.

So, my problem is that suddenly my phone couldn't find GPS coordinates. I was able to use CoPilot for some time on MCR 1.7 then I installed iGO and from then on, I had no GPS signal. In Copilot it says: GPS signal detected, determining position, but it doesn't. (of course under clear sky and I let it try for ~10 minutes)

So I decided to go back to Tmobile ROM with december update but i still can't use the GPS... The icon just flashes on the notification bar...

Please help me!

Have you enabled it in the settings? There is a box that needs to be ticked to make it work... I don't have my pulse on me right now so can't remember where it is....

I said that the GPS icon is flashing showing that I did enable the GPS...

Have you done any of the tin-foil mods, or is there any metal blocking the black piece of tape on the top left of your pulse? It will be marked something like 'SAA 090908'

My gps isn't working too. It worked for the first 2 times I tried with iGo, but now it doesn't tracks the location anymore.

No mods, no metal blocking piece of tape =S

Thank's, i'll appreciate your help!

Have you enabled A-GPS?

Try enabling or disabling it and see if that helps

Can the GPS signal be weakened by the bad weather?

edit: I found some answers... ;)

"The GPS signals will not be affected by clouds, rain, fog,

snow, etc., because of the combination of their passing

through water vapour, and the signal wavelength meaning

they "pass through" rain etc.

On the other hand, water will block/attenuate GPS signals.

For example, you can’t receive GPS signals underwater, although

having a GPS receiver antenna very close to the water surface

may allow some reception.

Most cloth that would be covering a GPS receiver’s antenna

will pass GPS signals(e.g. backpack, jacket, etc.), but cloth

with a metallic component will block/attenuate the signals.

Cloth that covers a GPS receiver’s antenna and gets wet

(e.g. from rain) can also block/attenuate the GPS signals.

In fact, you don’t even need the cloth – water on the case

that covers the GPS receiver antenna can block/attenuate

the GPS signals. That water could be drops, and/or a film

of water. I’ve seen that happen myself, when using my etrex

Venture in the rain – the signals were weak/blocked, but

a quick drying-off of the GPS case over the antenna brought

the reception back, which then degraded again as water

accumulated on the case. Similarly, GPS signal reception

is degraded in wet forest canopy conditions compared to

when the forest canopy is dry."

Turning off A-GPS helps for me! With A-GPS turned on it often looses GPS fix after 30 minutes or so. But I have

bad internet reception in my car, maybe that's related as well.
