theming with emulator

hi,

as i bought a liquid a month ago and had a few ideas for a custom theme that fits the design of the device, i'd like to try realizing it.

problem: the screen of my liquid died some days after i got it, so i sent it back and now don't have a device to develop on.

my question is:

is it possible to make a theme just with the emulator to test it? will it work for the liquid (which seems to have a stock/unthemed/unchanged android rom) if I just set the correct resolution for the emulator?
