Guest danial776 Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 Hi, I've Got A Samsung I900 Omnia 8GB Built-in Memory But Every Time I Install Applications To My Storage It Still Eats Up The Main Memory. Is There Any Way To Merge The Main Memory With The My Storage? Thanks In Advance
Guest brandogg Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 No, they're 2 physically different pieces of flash memory. Also, keep in mind that some apps can't be installed to My Storage, even if you tell them to, and the temporary internet files are stored on the main memory by default - a simple registry modification will fix this.

Can you explain us how can we do this simple registry modification (store temporary internet files and/or outlook e-mails on the My Storage)? Thnx
Guest brandogg Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 Gladly, it's pretty easy. You need a registry editor (resco explorer with the registry add-on works very nicely, free trial too), go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders\ - inside there will (should) be 4 items - (Default), Cache, Cookies, History. Look at the location listed under Cache, if it's set to \Windows\Internet\Temporary Internet Files, then simply highlight "Cache", choose "modify" and change the location to \My Storage\Internet\Temporary Internet Files\ and so do the same for Cookies (\My Storage\Internet\Cookies\) and History (\My Storage\Internet\History\). If they are already set to \My Storage\ then all the temp files, etc, are already being saved there, and won't effect your program memory space. Hope this helps. I'm pretty sure, at least on the default Omnia ROM, that these are set to \Windows\.
Guest Geert Jalink Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 Have you ever heard of an appliction named "MEMMAID" ??? it is a windows mobile tool to clean your cache and unused files freeing up some space.

Guest Compuse Posted April 9, 2010 Report Posted April 9, 2010 Internal memory is way faster then external memory! ;) (external=8/16GB) 9000KBs vs 2500KBs is very noticable in certain apps
