how to enable usb tether nexus one

Hi, I'm new to these forums and smart phones in general. I've got a nexus one and its been rooted with the himem ROM for the ERE27 build with the official update, following the guide found here: http://android.modaco.com/content/google-n...-the-nexus-one/

My question, now, is how do I enable USB tethering? I'm running a variant of Ubuntu 9.10 on my laptop and I need this to get internet access in remote locations at work. I've found these instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...amp;postcount=1 but I'm not sure if I can flash this over my superboot ROM. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Tethering is the primary reason I rooted the phone to begin with. Thanks.
