HTC Hero /dev/ttyMSM2

Hi all I have HTC Hero, i just rooted it. I would like to send data over the serial of Hero (/dev/ttyMSM2).

I tried: # echo 'message'>/dev/ttyMSM2 in BetterTerminal but it freeze and you must to get battery out.

I think writing to this port is not supported by kernel. Have you any idea which ROM can solve my problem?

I can confirm this behaviour. I also installed the Modaco custom ROM for the purpose of using the serial port. Is there any solution to this problem?
