Guest kwazyivan Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 (edited) Greatings to all members at Modaco, I wanted to discuss this issue as widescreen videos and pictures are more commonly used now a days. The Nexus One is very capable of playing 720p videos, which are displayed as widescreen, the same goes for pictures, but sadly the stock apps dont allow such widescreen videos or pictures to be captured. The hardware itself CAN capture WideScreen Videos and Pictures as it has widescreen camera lens. I noticed this first with the LAYAR app, as when the app starts, it shows clearly that the Nexus One has a widescreen camera lens. The next app that actually proves that the Nexus One can actually record widescreen videos, is the new updated QIK, as it records videos at the resolution of 800x480, but at a lower bitrate, NOT because of a hardware fault, but simply because the QIK app itself, as its been developed in such way since its an online video streaming app. I know that some people aren't really bothered about the widescreen feature, but since the Nexus One has a built-in WideScreen lens, HTC or Google should have implemented an option for Standard or Widescreen video/picture capture. There are many people that would simply love this feature, but the word isn't going across to developers, so please, I am now asking for your help to spread the word about this to android developers, as I also believe that the greatest guy at Modaco (PAUL) will definitely be a great part of this. Thank You All. Edited February 22, 2010 by kwazyivan
Guest jdxx76 Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 I would love this feature. That's how I use my canon...got used to it...especially viewing the pics on my widescreen. Haven't tried viewing a pic taken from the N1 yet...Hmmm...I guess I'll do that tonight. I guess they didn't implement this feature because of the onscreen buttons?

Guest Shuflie Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Could it be ported to the Nexus One? You wouldn't want to at the moment as the flash wouldn't work and you would be stuck with a 3MP picture. If its the same as the HTC camera apps from WM the widescreen pictures will just be the full 5MP pictures with the top and bottom cut off anyway, you could do that yourself in any desktop picture editing program.
