Guest chingy1788 Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 (edited) Given that the current Android 2.1 leak is rather slow Yes the Android 2.1 custom roms do give it a boost, but it is still slow, and very... unsmooth compared to Android 1.6 Not to mention lacking some features found in 1.6 (Acer widgets, viewing running apps screen previews, locking to 3g only mode, 5 row launcher, etc) Will there be any more work on improving Android 1.6 based roms? Angio has removed his links for ACR 1.5.1 We do have a working and modifiable kernel for Android 1.6 that has multi-touch and is overclocked to 920MHz, by disc0 -------------------------------------------------- ROMS Angio ACR 1.5.1 http://rapidshare.com/files/354661744/ACR_Liquid_V1.5.1.zip Mirror http://www.multiupload.com/67MWO1EJNB Angio ACR 1.5.1 Theme Template http://rapidshare.com/files/354665973/ACR_...late_v1.5.1.zip Angio ACR 1.5.1 + Disc0 920MHz kernel http://www.megaupload.com/?d=N37H48SR Maxisma's MCR http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...0-16-emea-gen1/ -------------------------------------------------- Acer 2.000.16 EMEA G1 .bin file http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HHET63Q1 http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...0-16-emea-gen1/ -------------------------------------------------- Acer's Download Tool http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...ad-tool-for-a1/ -------------------------------------------------- Android SDK http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html -------------------------------------------------- Superboot Kernels (boot.img) Credits to disc0 Basic Superboot Kernel http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...f-2-000-16-rom/ Modified Superboot Kernels 1GHz, 768MHz, Both with Multitouch support (with Dolphin browser) These kernels are compiled from Acer's released kernel source. Guest Andy__P Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 There's Maxisma's CR as well. http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...0-16-emea-gen1/ Based off the latest 1.6 dump (2.0016) I've used it for quite some time and it's very good.
Guest chingy1788 Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 (edited) The theme itself isnt good, transparent power widget does not work on a bright background Edited February 22, 2010 by chingy1788

Guest blc Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 I'm with chingy1788 here. While 2.1 is cool and everything, it's nowhere near being "production usable". I appreciate the work you put in, but I also hope someone could continue the work Angio made with the latest Donut ACR. Give some love for ye olde Donut :D
Guest drigerott Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 just use 1.5.1 is amazing ... dev other rom for 1.6 don't have sense..
Guest bais Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 I think Angio deleted the links for ACR 1.5.1.
Guest eViL D: Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 Would you have to flash the 1.6 bin first because of the radio?
Guest blc Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 Would you have to flash the 1.6 bin first because of the radio? Yep. I tried using system.img and boot from 1.6 (2.000.16) and radio from 2.1, but it didn't work.
Guest eViL D: Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 Yep. I tried using system.img and boot from 1.6 (2.000.16) and radio from 2.1, but it didn't work. You try through nandroid, fastboot or via update?
Guest blc Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 (edited) You try through nandroid, fastboot or via update? Flashed 2.1 with Acer tool, then flashed 1.6 system, boot and recovery with fastboot. Finally wiped data with lickonn recovery and booted. System booted fine and most of stuff worked but no network (GSM) or bluetooth etc. Didn't spend more time digging around. Also, Baseband version said "Unknown". Edited February 22, 2010 by blc
Guest Oskaar Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 Since Angio removed the link to the 1.5.1 rom, let me know if you want it uploaded :(
Guest chingy1788 Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 A new thread should be made for those Android 1.6 Roms Devs, don't forget Android 1.6 theres a kernel, multi touch, overclocking, Acer's UI (its not just the two widgets) Theres talk of FM radio Keep improving 1.6, until the official 2.1 comes out
Guest tomdotcom Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 I reinstalled a 2.00016 bin using the AcerTool, then Nandroid restored my phone from a 1.6 backup (prior to going to 2.1). Everything is back to ACR1.51. The speed is amazing and is clearly why I enjoyed using the phone so much. 2.1 had me thinking I was back to using the old HTC Magic/sapphire. Fully support this thread!
Guest krumbalu Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 let us use this thread to upload the 1.6 angio roms :(
Guest krumbalu Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) i've upped 1.5.1 for 1.6 here ACR_Liquid_V1.5.1 this is the template for the theme developers ACR_Template_v1.5.1 Edited February 23, 2010 by krumbalu

Guest blc Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 ACR v1.5.1 repacked & resigned with disc0/blc 920MHz superboot kernel: Megaupload
Guest bbpoux Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Thanks BLC, I love my liquid @ 920 Mhz, and now i could have the both (ACR + Speed :() ) Thanks again
Guest bbpoux Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 (edited) Do we need to make a Wipe after the ACR 1.5.1 update ??? Because nothing change for me after the update (There's no theme) Edited February 24, 2010 by bbpoux
Guest chingy1788 Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Usually a wipe is required before flashing to a new rom
Guest F_J_P Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Do we need to make a Wipe after the ACR 1.5.1 update ??? Because nothing change for me after the update (There's no theme) From what I remember ACR 1.5.1 was unthemed.
Guest Angio Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 ill continue 1.6 till we get an official rom is you all would like?
Guest gapone Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 ill continue 1.6 till we get an official rom is you all would like? Yeah that would be wise but you should also ask EvilD to join forces with all off other devs to make that 2.1 better when it arrives. It's better to have one bug free custom ROM than many kinda decent ones. What do you think?
