Guest paroariax Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 Hi everyone. I got my TG01 about a month ago and I've been having problems with the touchscreen. The photos below give a good demonstration of the issue: Photo 1 Photo 2 Photo 3 These photos show my attempts to draw straight horizontal lines in the Note editor (left to right). As you can see, quite often when I start the line it first draws another diagonal line from the top-right down towards where I actually pressed the touchscreen, indicating that it thought I touched the screen somewhere else. The practical result of this is that sometimes the kinetic scrolling goes haywire, and sometimes it thinks I'm pressing a different button. Has anyone seen issues like this before? I'm thinking its probably a hardware fault, and will need to go back for warranty repair or replacement. I have the Orange(UK) variant of TG01, with WM6.5 pre-installed. Thanks for any and all advice, Keith.
Guest useyourfist Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 i have a problem with swype keyboard like this it annoying but dont happen all the time you could try re calibrating the touch screen via the settings menu if that dont help i would take it back and swap it
Guest paroariax Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 I did try calibrating the touchscreen several times and I'm confident that the calibration is accurate, but the problem still occurs.

TAKE IT BACK IT,S MULLERD SADLEY I THINK YOU GOT A DUFF ONE . if you got in store then take it back and get really funny with them dont ask TELL them you will not be messed about with you want to sit in one corner of the room and have at least one hour or more and go into your new tg01 carefully . it,s ok if you dont cover all aspects of it you can take it back agine i know i know it,s a pain to keep doing this but it about the only way you will find a good unit in the end . secound option if you can unlock it dump orange like the3 plague and go to 3 im not just saying it becouse im on 3 but it makes the phone more stable other users will back me up on that .
Guest useyourfist Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 just tried notes on mine and did loads of lines with my finger maybe about 1 in 10 went wrong so yours really needs to go back, dose it happen when u use a stylus as it could be to do with point of contact from you finger but i would say probably the phone has a bug, and yes AVOID ORANGE AT ALL COSTS im stuck on contract but never again once it ends.
Guest paroariax Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 Interestingly, the problem doesn't seem to occur when I use a stylus. I think it must still be a fault though as my fingers aren't THAT fat, and the TG01 is supposed to be designed for finger use. I'm going to take it back to the orange shop tonight and hopefully they'll agree to exchange it there and then.
Guest paroariax Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 UPDATE: I went into the Orange shop last night and eventually convinced the boy behind the counter to get them to send me a replacement phone. Basically they're going to send me one via special courier, and I have to hand over the old one at that time. Seems like a rather arse-about-face way of doing things, but at least I'm going to receive a replacement phone sometime tonight.

Guest paroariax Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 The new phone seems much better with regards to the touchscreen issue. It does still occur sometimes though, which leads me to believe that despite the way the TG01 was marketed, its touchscreen is only just about good enough for finger touch. On the whole I'm pleased though.
