Guest gapone Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) Hi guys! I will get my liquid today and I want to know if I install that community rom and someday I have to send the phone to warranty... Can I just flash this Acer_Liquid_2.000.16_G1_EUU.zip from acer's ftp site and it's good to go in warranty? Do I get rid off all the traces of rooting my device and installing custom roms by just installing that ROM? Thanks to all DEVS for good work! Edited February 23, 2010 by gapone

You have to flash back your original ROM (the one that come with the phone) or any other Acer official release ROM (there haven't been any to date, next one probably will be eclair anytime between mars and june). Depending on the partitions you flash you will negate the effects of any mods you do (rooting etc...). when using the Acer tool for example, you flash all partitions (not sure about recovery partition though, but this partition is not affected by rooting). There re different ways to backup your rom before modifying it.....search the forum. If you happen to have a ROM that has already been uploaded on the forum (search for standard roms) you can flash back any of those that matches your phone.
Guest chingy1788 Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 I'm not sure what we can do now If you flashed your boot.img (needed to root) then you need to flash it back to the original I dont know where to fine original boot.imgs Also if you went to 2.000.16, then that might also be a problem, since 2.000.16 updates the radio too, do we have an old radio to go back to?

I think this is an official update from Acer ( Acer_Liquid_2.000.16_G1_EUU.zip), via Acer´s FTP server. The problem is that in the support page of the Liquid, there is no file like this one, only on FTP server. Regards jericho

It is on acer's ftp (ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/smartphone/s100/os_images/) so shouldn't it be valid for warranty purposes?
Guest chingy1788 Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 I'm not sure My idea is that its not on the main site, so that means theres no disclaimer or terms and conditions for using the ROM which means i have no idea if its valid for warranty or not chances are its not valid for warranty

Well, i think it´s better you read this topic first http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...-16-g1-euu-zip/ I have to send my Liquid to warranty because of a camera problem, and i have the same question as you. I wrote an email to Acer, just waiting for a reply.... regards jericho

When not using focus, camera works fine. Regarding the Warranty, Thats why I still have stock rom and not rooted yet, as the Warranty will be void unless you have the bin file of your stock rom. Not mentioning the radio.... I will wait for the official rom update maybe there will be a bin file so I could go to factory rom after rooting without Acer Techs notice anything. (If warranty id needed)

Guest glassman2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 For me, this is official, as you can get it from Acer Europe main support site : http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/ftp/ftp.html => thus, it will be difficult for them to refuse warranty based on a ROM that was downloaded from their own Support site FTP server.

Regards jericho They didn't sell you the product with that ROM on it. They didn't point you to the product through their support site. They only placed a file in an FTP with a name and path that hinted that it was a ROM for your liquid. If i were a company that wanted to keep support expenses to a minimum, i'd tell you just that. all i'm saying is be careful. if you can flash back your original rom, then do it before sending it back for repair.

Ok, what do you need ? A personnal email in your mail box saying Hi M. sss-ddk, please download this file .... ? As far as the file is available from their support Website (http://support.acer-euro.com), when you choose "Drivers and utilities", "Browse FTP site", "Smartphone", "S100", "os_images", I don't know how they can tell you that this was not intended to be used. If it is not intended to be used, do not put it on your public FTP site. Period. That said, as far as I know, the original .BIN files (1.008, 1.004 and so on) where never available to download (from Acer's website or anywhere else). As this is the only way to update the baseband back to original version, I would try the 2.000.16 .bin. Bonne soirée :( Edited February 23, 2010 by glassman2010

Guest navygino Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 I would also like to ask, for HKCSL ROM, right now most of us is using the 2.000.xx ROM. So if I want to use Paul's CSL ROM image to flash, do I need to get back to the old radio?? Which mean do I need to flash .bin like 1.000.04 before flashing the CSL image??
Guest designgears Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 the community rom is a slow POS :(
